Guest guest
Hi , If you notice from my posts, I use the principles of ABA but focus on the procedural recommendations of the VB approach to those principles. I have chosen to use the term ABA/VB to label my intervention services. VB is not a seperate entity from ABA. It is based on the same principles and research. However, there are approaches to ABA (Lovaas,CARD, Among others) that use ABA without the procedural recommendations of VB. I choose to call these programs traditional ABA. In other words, The Verbal Behavior approach to ABA (ABA/VB) is an evidence based alternative to Traditional ABA. I understand people wanting to use AVB as a title, but find it to be unintentionally misleading as to the connection between VB and ABA. Just my two cents, RE: [ ] Unique Needs for AVB I am perplexed by the comments about no difference between ABA and ABA that uses the research on motivation and the analysis of verbal behavior, now being coined as AVB or VB. From everything I've studied and been taught thus far,all ABA does not use these two particular lines of research and it does make a difference in all programs I've seen between the uses of each. My personal observation as a parent is that a " good ABA " program makes the most progress when using these two lines of research. The kids really want to participate.
