Hi Lori.

There's a comparison chart on the Polar website. The FS1 is "compatible" with the Wearlink and so you'd have to buy it separately. If the A5 is similar to the F5, then it is compatible as well. The Wearlink, I think, you can find as an accessory for $50-60 or so. There shouldn't be a problem with the underwater issue, but check on the comparison chart. Lots of these monitors are used in triathlon training and I swim with mine (the monitor and strap).
