Hi Jordana,

He's not on anything right now. We cant get him in until late January, and I

don't even know if the guy is CBT/ERP trained. I've had such trouble finding

one, I thought Id give him a shot, as the Neuropsychiatrist that tested Micah

recommended him.

Hi Jordana,

He was diagnosed by a Dr. in K city Oct of this year. We live in Springfield

Mo, so it is a 3 hour drive each way, obviously not working for us.

So we are looking for a Dr to treat him locally. There were none in our area

listed with the OC foundation. So we're still looking, hoping to find one.

The psychiatrist that tested him for ADD, and learning disabilities said he

has severe OCD. We go back Dec 1 for the rest of the results. He has

recommended a Dr, locally, but he cant see Micah until late January. We hope,

but

don't know, that he is trained in CBT/ERP.

So unless the Dr that said he has severe OCD is willing to give him med.

until we can get in, everything is on hold until late in January............a

very long time to wait!

You might want to contact Dr. Jenike of the OCD-support yahoo group to see if he

knows of someone to see in your area that specializes in OCD.  I hate to think

that you have to wait that long.  Have you contacted the OC Foundation for

local referrals?

Hi, , just a thought here. If you are up for it, because I know

you don't feel well, often. . . You might call the doctor you are

waiting to see, and ask to speak to him. Many will do a phone

consult, for no charge. Then you can ask him if he uses CBT/ERP. I

interviewed a lot of therapists over the phone, in order to find the

one we are currently using. All were happy to speak to me. There

were only a few instances where the receptionist tried to put me off,

but I nicely insisted that I would prefer to talk to the doctor first,

before making an appointment. That way you don't have to wait so

long, just to find out he might not do the correct type of therapy.

Finding a qualified therapist can be so rough. :o/

,

I have mostly been lurking on this board.  My daughter was diagnosed with OCD

recently.  Your post caught my eye because I live south of Springfield, MO.   I

too searched to find someone who specialized in CBT and ERP.  Through a round

about search, I found a psychologist in Springfield, MO who does CBT and ERP.

We have attended 3 sessions with her, and she seems to be great.  My daughter

loves her and feels very comfortable with her.  I don't know if she would take

any new patients, but if you would like I could give you the information.  If

you would like more information, you may e-mail me at tkdavis134@....
