Guest guest
I was listening to Living on Earth this morning, NPR's environmental program. They had 2 great stories back to back. The first was about a rancher in South Dakota who's switched from cattle to buffalo. He's written a book called Buffalo For The Broken Heart, all about restoring the life on his farm by bringing back the buffalo. The interview was really moving. Then they had a story about camel milk! There was a scienteist in Israel who wanted to try to improve cows by studying camels, but soon came to realize that camels were perfect for the climate and cows were never going to be. So now there's a whole center that advocates camel milk! It was a really cool story, with descriptions of milking the camels (it's done standing up) and what camel ice cream tastes like, and the health benefits. The url is http://www.loe.org I got a huge box of organic kiwi for FREE yesterday--but don't know what to do with them all. I can't just sit and eat fruit in that quantity or my blood sugar will go insane. Anyone from New Zealand out there? What can I do with them? Dry them? Jelly? Any suggestions? And I know this is WWOT, but I'm just too excited. I have a small flock of racing homers, and they just had their first baby! I didn't think they'd be able to keep the egg viable in the middle of winter, but she hatched out yesterday and she's still alive this morning. The parents are really smart--the moment I enter they pigeon house, they sit really still and cover the baby completely. I don't know how to tell them I'm not a predator! I just want to get a look at the baby, I'm not going to eat her, Scout's Honor! All I can see is that she's tawny brown and wiggling. It seems like such a paradox, but I guess that's the miracle--life is so fragile and yet it's everywhere. Guest guest
I've seen kiwi jam. It's supposedly very good but it looked like frog eggs floating in slime to me. ine

Maybe you can find it in the archives on . I'd bet you could make some very nice kiwi sauce/jelly, probably without even adding any sugar, either. -
