Guest guest
I've been trying not to post until I've answered out standing emails, but it seems we are in such a downward spiral, and Its happening so fast. I went into Micah's room this morning...and it smelled like urine. I asked him why his room smells like pee. At first he wouldn't answer me. Then he said he accidentally wet himself, so I had him change his underwear PJ's and clean himself up. Well while he was gone, the smell stayed. I started smelling his quilt, sheets, blanket, he has been wetting himself while in bed! I asked him if he did this in his sleep, but he said no. He's just lying in bed and peeing on himself. I asked him why, but he said I don't know. He doesn't even change his clothes afterward. He's been doing it for a week. I've stripped everything off the bed, and it made it to the mattress, even with a mattress pad and mattress protector (supposedly water proof). I don't know what to do, and to make matters worse, I feel so bad, because I yelled at him. I know its not his fault, but I yelled and said what's wrong with you. I wish I could take those words back. we sat down and talked about it, I told him how sorry I was for what I said. but I still feel awful. I know he doesn't want to do these things. It just came out... I feel like I'm losing it. Between the poop smell, spitting, and now peeing....I just feel like I'm at the end of my rope. Has anyone else had a child that started wetting themselves, and lying in it?
Guest guest
Hi his first appt with psychologist is next Wednesday, but she cant give him meds. We have an appt with neurologist the 22, but don't know if he will give meds. The Neuropsychologist called psychiatrist and asked him to move Micahs appt up, as I couldn't get him in any sooner than March. Hopefully the appt will be soon, and we can get him on something, as things are getting bad fast. I got the message from the Neuropsychologist to call psychiatrist after 1, but their office had closed at noon. So I have to wait until Monday. All this waiting!! Guest guest
Hi BJ, thanks for trying to make me feel better, I'm still trying. I wish he were a sleep when he did it, it would be so Micah easier to understand. but no he says he does it while he is laying in bed watching TV. I asked him why he didn't get up and go, but he just said he didn't know. Not wetting his pants any other time, except he admitted he had done it while playing video games once. I think he just doesn't want to get up.....I don't know........I don't know what to think I don't know anything about the Drs any one you would suggest thanks for the prayers BJ, In a message dated 12/6/2008 5:34:52 P.M. Or is he having issues with using the bathroom any other time, for any other reason? It's so hard to know sometimes what fears they have and how it's being applied. I searched back, but couldn't find the post though. Barb, do either of you remember that? , you might consider writing to some of the experts here, maybe Dr. Wagner, Dr. Chansky, Dr. , or Dr. Geller, to see what they might think. If you do, include his diagnosis' and meds. They could be of more help with it, maybe. I hope they can give you some good information. Guest guest
HI , I'm sorry you are having such a rough time. I feel pretty safe in saying I bet we have all lost our tempers and raised our voices at some point. I had a moment like that myself this morning. Parents are not saints and we make mistakes. This is true of those that have kids without any challenges as well. Please don't be to hard on yourself. I'm back to using BJ's suggestions and taking lots of showers It is helping me get a few moments to myself and to clear my head. Big hugs to you. ~~Kathy gkathy40@... http://www.myspace.com/clearingachannel yahoo messenger id gkathy40@... Courage is not living without fear. Guest guest
::::Raising hand::::: Yep, I've yelled at my kid and felt horrible afterwards. Makes you feel horrible. We all have our breaking point. But, I think there can be a silver lining. Kids figure out parents aren't perfect either, and maybe that takes some of the stress off of them to be perfect. You did the right thing, , by going to him and apologizing for losing your cool. That sets a great example for him, on how it should be handled. Don't beat yourself up. You are human, Hon. The only urinary issues I've read about, and we also experienced, associated with OCD is them thinking they need to go to empty their bladder, when they don't have to. Josh stood in the bathroom for hours at times, unable to come out, due to him thinking he still had some in his bladder that needed to come out. It was truly awful. Do you think Micah might be sleeping so soundly that he is not waking up all the way to make it to the bathroom? Guest guest
, does he have any transition rituals attached to his OCD? If it's difficult for him to get out of bed, go through the doors, and get whatever clothing adjusted to go to the bathroom, he may see peeing in bed as being less difficult than going through all the transition rituals. So sorry you're going through that, and you did just right by going back to him to apologize for losing your cool. Everyone does, and you're modeling the right behavior for him, too. take care ccfcrwmc@... wrote: > > Hi BJ, > thanks for trying to make me feel better, I'm still trying. > > I wish he were a sleep when he did it, it would be so Micah easier to > understand. but no he says he does it while he is laying in bed > watching TV. Guest guest
Hi, . If you go into the " Home " page, you can see their names with their websites listed next to their names. You can go in their websites and read about them to see who you'd like to ask. I would definitely include Dr. Geller, because he is a pediatric psychiatrist and could offer information on if he thinks it might be drug related. I've personally found Dr. Wagner to very helpful too, but I'm sure they are all great. We are so fortunate to have access to these great experts, through Louis, and that they are willing to offer their time and expertise. (((hugs to you))) BJ > > Hi BJ, > thanks for trying to make me feel better, I'm still trying. > > I wish he were a sleep when he did it, it would be so Micah easier to > understand. but no he says he does it while he is laying in bed watching TV. Guest guest
You know I'm not really sure. He does have problems with doorways and rugs, and getting in bed just right, I cant remember if getting out is a problem. I never thought of that.
