Guest guest
Thanks so much for your words of support! I have had a couple of interesting things happen in the past few days. I had a meeting with my sons teacher, who is a wonderful man, that he wanted me to know that was SAFE in his classroom. That he is paying attention and yes, he is seeing many behaviors that he knows are associated with OCD because he read up on it. (what a great guy) He is in line to support me in whatever and he said, you know Vicki.... years ago, parents of autistic kids had to fight hard to get their children what they need.... he said, this is the battle ahead of you. Most of the Admin's of the school have no understanding of what our kids need and he said you have to be willing to fight for it.... it is nice to know that I have his support. The doctor's appt. went well also... the doc thinks there are a couple of thing going on. He said that 's body may be rebounding from the meds. His body has had enough and it is acting the opposite of what it is supposed to do.... so we are going to change the meds around a bit. A huge part we figured out today is that the Tagmet that my son is taking for ACID reflux is causing his meds to not be digested fully. I have been giving him the acid reflux meds at the same time as his other meds and that is lessening the effect of them (THAT IS HUGE) The doc said that Clomipramine is the best OCD med out there... that he doesn't feel that an SSRI would do any better... but wants to add in a dopamine controller and a booster for the adhd... so... we ahve 50mg of clomipramine for OCD in the a.m. and p.m.... we have concerta in the a.m. for adhd and we've added a small ritalin booster after school to get us through homework... then, if the ritalin doesn't do enough, we will be adding risperidone, which will work with the dopamine part. holy moses...> I really hope this works to alleviate some of the anxiety.... It was interesting, because the one thing that he said to me was that when I speak to my son, I need to say to him that I expect him to act a certain way... that it is my expectation that he will do this and not this, etc.... he said that there needs to know that regardless of what he is going through, there are some actions that just don't fly. So folks... thank you for getting me through this... I am keeping a very positive outlook and really excited to be trying some new things! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH....
