Guest guest
The OCD meds can cause this huge increase in appetite, particularly for carbohydrates.  If showers are stressful for her due to OCD, it is understandable that she would want to avoid them.  How about making a shower every other day a family rule that there is consequences about if she won't take one.  I have found that when one looks better, one feels better. self esteem Joei is always hungry these days and is gaining weight. This is affecting her self esteem. She calls herself the fat ugly girl. She still keeps eating.  She is reluctant to take care of herself in the grooming department. Though she struggles with thoughts in the shower (at times) and always feels better after she takes them, it is very difficult to get her to take 2 showers a week.  Her hair is stringy and she is getting dandruff. She " forgets " to brush her teeth, has to be nagged to brush her hair and she is getting pimples because she won't take care of her face (she is 11).  No matter how I approach this (soft and loving or hard with facts) she just won't budge. I am going to discuss this with the doctors but wonder if anyone else has had similar problems. She is very sloppy and takes no pride in herself. Sh e is a well liked kid at school but they are 6th graders and I am afraid it is going to start affecting her socially. ~~Kathy  gkathy40@... http://www.myspace.com/clearingachannel yahoo messenger id gkathy40@... Guest guest
That is such a sweet thing to do for your son, . My son also has very low self esteem. He just found out he didn't make the ski team at school so that doesn't help any. The coach actually made them stand in the order of how well they did in tryouts! Can you believe that??
