Guest guest
Hi all... We have been dealing with low self esteem with our 9 year old... i agree with all of you that it seems to run with our OCDers... Since I am the " main " parent... meaning... Mom handles everything and makes sure to tell our son how great he is... Our psychologist asked that my husband spend 10-15 minutes a day with him talking... about special things to our son... about issues at school... about telling him how he should handle things, etc.... we've been doing it for a few weeks now... yes, my husband spends more than 15 minutes with him... but this is a special 15 minutes of build up time. It has been going wonderfully. My husband even said he sees a difference.... it's like you can see the little guys chest fill with pride when dad pays him a compliment.... I think the special dinner is so wonderful... how neat that must have been for your son !!! I may have to steal that idea one day! have a great one everybody!!! Guest guest
I think that's a great idea Vicki, My husband spends about 30 mins a day playing with Micah, be it a game, video game, or legos, but they don't talk to each other. I think adding some talk (Micah), listen (Dad) time would be great. In a message dated 12/10/2008 12:51:21 A.M. Central Standard Time, vicki1021@... writes: Hi all...
