Guest guest
, I find that absolutely amazing that the principal said you can't even use the word 504! That's really the most ridiculous thing i've heard! Public schools are required BY LAW to set up a 504 if you request it and you have documentation from his therapist. When I initiated 's, I contacted her principal. He asked for the documentation and once he had it, got the ball rolling. After we had our meeting with him and the teachers, they wrote it all up in a legal document and I signed it. I would try just once more to ask the principal to set up a meeting with him, you, and this teacher to try to work things out. Tell him you feel things have gotten off on the wrong foot and you'd like a chance to discuss the situation with everyone involved with your son. Ask him this in a letter or email and keep a copy. If he refuses, you may have to print your state's 504 law and just show up at school. If he still doesn't cooperate, I'd go to the superintendent of your school system.
