Guest guest Posted February 15, 2007 Report Share Posted February 15, 2007 POAC-NoVA Presents a Workshop for Parents and their family therapists on Introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis and Skinner's Analysis of Verbal Behavior by Amy McGinnis, M.S.,OTR. This workshop is designed to provide parents and therapists with an introduction to applied behavior analysis and Skinner's analysis of verbal behavior. Participants will learn how the skillful manipulation of motivating operations, reinforcement, and errorless teaching can be used to teach a variety of topography-based functional communicational skills to individuals with autism. About the Presenter: Amy McGinnis is an associate of Establishing Operations, Inc. Ms. McGinnis began providing direct ABA services teaching verbal behavior in 1998, working with individuals with autism and related disorders ranging from early to advanced skill profiles. She has received extensive training and experience in implementing the procedures of applied behavior analysis (specifically Skinner's analysis of verbal behavior) to teach language, socialization, play skills, motor skills, academics, and the management of problem behaviors across all environments. Amy holds a Master of Science degree in occupational therapy. In addition to providing verbal behavior consultative services, Amy also serves as the Workshop Coordinator for Parents of Autistic Children (POAC) of Pennsylvania where she designs and presents verbal behavior workshops for parents and professionals. Amy is based out of Orlando, FL where she is pursuing a second Master of Science degree in Applied Behavior Analysis at the Florida Institute of Technology. Amy currently provides assistance at verbal behavior workshops as well as providing consultative verbal behavior services under the supervision of Holly Kibbe, MS, BCBA and Cherish Twigg, MS, BCBA. Time: February 25th, 2007 from 1:00PM -4:00PM Location: Fairfax Education Association, 3917 Old Lee Highway, Fairfax 22030 Check-in starts at 12:30 pm on February 25th.
