Guest guest
Hi and welcome to all new members! Please don't be shy--let's get to know each other and share what we're learning on this journey. I'm really psyched that this is my year to put all the stray pieces into place and get really balanced in my life. , thanks for the idea about acupuncturists. I do know there are a couple in my area. I think that the DVDs will be helpful in getting familiar with the various exercises, and hopefully I can move on to my own pattern once I'm rolling. It's interesting how many different types of qi gong there are, and how each has it's own tweaks. One DVD stresses to keep one's tongue touching the roof of the mouth, the other never mentions that...so it's a little confusing. Guess I'll just experiment and see what works best for me. Guest guest
Ahh, the tongue to three roof of the mouth thing. I can explain that. There are two major energy channels. One goes from the bottom of the mouth down to a point between your anus and sex organs. Another energy channel starts there and travels up the back and over the skull until it reaches the top of the mouth. You press your tongue to the top of the mouth to complete this energy curcuit. Some systems of qigong consider this flow of energy between the two channels (often called the microcosmic orbit) to be an advanced practice, while others consider it to be a more fundamental practice. Whether they tell you to place your tongue against the roof of your mouth indicates which school of thinking that style is probably in. > Hi and welcome to all new members! Guest guest
Interesting - this is also a key component of passing Reiki attunements.Took me a while to master the coordination required to keep my tongue in place while working with the symbols, the breathing and the visualizations, but eventually I got the hang of it, with a lot of practice.
