The site about learning issues r/t OCD was wonderful. At this point, I am one

step below furious.

Because my son had a severe concussion this summer, we had him tested for post

traumatic brain injury. Many of these learning issues have become more

noticeable since the injury. But, the point is, with psychiatrists for meds and

psychologists for CBT, no one ever questioned specifics. Just how's school. Oh,

you go to a hard school.

So, now we begin adjustments in school.

At this point, am ready to start lobbying for a law for all children to be

screen for learning issues, just as they are for vision and hearing.

The frustration that could have been avoided, had we known!

Well you have a point Phyllis. I suspect if they did that though they

would never be able to meet the overwhelming needs. We opted to test

independently because we learned the school only does certain type of

testing. When we compared the independent results there was no

comparison. I wish the comprehension level they had our son at, which

was at grade level, was true!

Unfortunate truth is that the money is not there for either proper

testing or accomodations, for some perhaps, but not all. Our

experience anyway. In Canada. Keep advocating to have your child's

needs met, makes it better for everyone!
