Guest guest
Thanks for your replies. We were out of town for Thanksgiving. The break was great! We brought the book to the therapist and she said it was something else that was causing the anxiety. Which makes sense, school gives him major anxiety. She suggested he start taking something for the anxiety. He does just want to stay home and do nothing else. That part seems to be getting worse. I feel like he misses out on so much! Thanks again for your help.
Guest guest
My son was diagnosed with OCD about six months ago, although for the past 4 years we thought it was just anxiety. His obsession is the thought of vomiting at school which makes going to school very, very difficult every morning. But we push him through all his tears and tantrums. He also wants to stay home and do nothing, and misses out on a lot of opportunties with friends. We did decide to put him on medication and is taking Celexa, which was just increased to 50 mg per day. He also started CBT, but is slow to start working but he is starting to stop some of his smaller complusions. We are starting to see slight improvements and he was able to go to the movies with friends a week ago (as long as I went too and saw a differnt movie). School mornings are still really tough. Anyhow, I share in your distress. We had to talk to the school and when he is having difficulties during the day, he has permission to step out of the classroom and either go to the nurse or the guidance coucelor until his anxiety passes a bit. It is hard to watch as a parent though. > > Thanks for your replies. We were out of town for Thanksgiving.
