Hello, my name is Sophie Best. I am a Play Therapist working in London. I

work with children, young people and families using: play, art, music,

sandtrays, drama, dance and more.

My background is in Psychology. I have worked for years for people with

Autism, Learning Difficulties, Mental Health problems and Physical and

Sensory disabilities. I worked as an ABA VB Tutor too before training in

Play Therapy. My qualifications are accredited by The British Association

of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, Play Therapy International and Play

Therapy UK.

I am about to start up private practice in South West London next Spring

having worked for the last two years in East London. I will rent a room to

work from but will also be able to be sourced by schools to work with some

of their children on site.

Children are referred to me for a number of different reasons such as:

bereavement, abuse, self-harm, anxiety or obsessive compulsive disorders,

anti-social behaviours and communication/language difficulties and delays.

It can often be that emotional problems are causing the child to be

preoccupied and so form a block to learning. This means they not only

struggle to take on new information but they can also become frustrated and

'act out'.

I already work with a number of Autistic Spectrum children and am

increasingly being asked to work with their siblings and parents too, as the

family work through the wider affects of having a member of the family with

Autism.

I wonder if anyone reading this might be interested in Play Therapy, or

maybe in hearing more about it? I would be delighted to explain more to you

if you did, please contact me on: sophiabest@....

Thank you for your time,

yours,

Sophie
