Guest guest
It is helpful - thank you - I am 52 and have been playing this game for a long time. I am doing more and more visualization - I started a zumba class (latin dance/high impact aerobics) kind of thing - and I visualized myself in the mirror after the loss of 40 pounds and that was cool. I'm also trying to believe it can happen, I think that is part of the issue too - not believing it is possible discourages me sometimes. I have a neighbor and a co-worker (same person) who just lost a lot of weight. I used to be jealous of people who did this but now it really encourages me - helps me to believe it can be done - esp. since parts of her personality and story are similar to mine - I look at her and I am encouraged! So far I've lost 6 pounds which is also encouraging. Take care all. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
Welcome Kimmie and all the newbies! You guys have written some very thought provoking things and I'm glad that you've decided to join us!! I have been working on improving my health also. My husband bought me a watch that counts steps (its similar to a pedometer but it also tells you how many calories you've burned, altitude, etc..) for christmas. I saw it in a health magazine and had to have it (it was a splurge). Since christmas I've been taking at least 10,000 steps per day and try to improve a little everyweek. Thus far my weekly average has been between 10,500-13,500 steps per day over the last month with my highest ever being 20,000 and my lowest since christmas 7,200 steps in one day. I feel better and have lost inches and a even a few pounds. I am also working on my gray area of recovering from a bad food decision quickly...I noticed this morning that I made some bad decisions on Monday and Tuesday dinners but managed to bounce back at the next meal both times. I've also set my watch daily alarm for 8pm and have decided not to eat after that time (it reminds me of when Will set his alarm in I am legend, lol). At any rate that's progress for me!!! We'll here's to a great weekend for all of you and keep up the good work! Guest guest
MissKim, Good for you! You're doing all kinds of great things to help you get to your destination. I have no idea how much walking you have to do to make 20,000 steps, but it sure sounds like a lot to me! My small victory for this week involves my job and my emotions. Awful job, highly stressful, and this has been a terrible week at the office, but while I did eat a bit more than I might have otherwise, I didn't bury my face in the fridge and suck in everything there. I keep telling myself - baby steps. Guest guest
Pat, Thank you for your words of encouragement and good work on finding other outlets for stress besides eating (which is a hard feat). To tell the truth walking 20000 steps involved some time at the mall one Saturday. In general 2000-2500 steps is about 1 mile so I did shock myself that day. I went shopping (which I haven't done much since I gained weight) and walked a bit around the mall as I was browsing. I then came home and had a little party in my living room by dancing along to music videos and the music channels on cable (it was soooooo much fun) and it beat laying in the bed all day, eating and sleeping. I admit that is what my saturdays looked like for a while...sleep, lay in bed and watch tv, eat, fall asleep, wake up and repeat....Thank God for progress...
