Hi - I know a mom on a list of mine that has taken her son to China once for adult stem cell treatment. They saw such wonderful gains that they are going back again this summer for more.

Email me off list and I'll give you her email address if you would like to speak with her.

I forwarded your email address to her. They are leaving this Wednesday for China so it might take her a few days to get to you. Her name is Rita Badger.

>Thanks for your opinion. This particular dog did have a meniscal

release done at the time of the TTA sx at a different hospital from

where I am. The client came to our surgeon for a second opinion

8wks post op because the prior surgeon had placed a cast on the dogs

sx leg for 8 wks. That is how I received her as a rehab patient.

She was progressing well, then started declining several weeks into

the rehab program. This is when our surgeon made a probable dx of a

meniscal tear. No arthoscope was done to confirm the dx.

Unfortunately, another surgery is not in this dogs future, so I am

trying to help the best I can with rehab.

Thanks again for your help.

I just got these links from Vet-Stem:

http://www.vet-stem.com/images/PetOwnerRehab.pdf

and

http://www.vet-stem.com/images/VetRehab.pdf

Anyone have any thoughts on using ultrasound on areas that have recently (say within 2-3 weeks) been treated with stem cell therapy?

,

We have had a few cases with severe end-stage hip OA respond well to

intra-articular SCT. Alternatively, we have also had numerous cases

respond favorably to intra-articular cortisone. It will be important

to find a surgeon or anesthesiologist who is comfortable injecting

arthritic hips as they can be a challenge…..fluoroscopic guidance

using a spinal needle is typically recommended. The number one cause

of failure to respond to intra-articular injections in people is

failure of actually injecting into the joint (administered

periarticular instead), therefore a false negative response. I

assume you have already attempted rehabilitation therapy and

conservative medical management? Rehabilitation therapy is still

recommended following intra-articular injections. Unfortunately, I

have no experience with PST but I am sure others can comment on their

success with hip OA. Since PST is a more conservative approach you

could attempt this mode of therapy (along with a full rehab program)

and if no response consider intra-articular injections.

DM was on the research list and they were funding 50% of it last year. We tried

it IV on one patient. She lived 12 months post-dx and did seem to plateau for a

few weeks after each injection, but then deteriorated.

I fully understand....the reason for the question is that IV administration for any condition, to me, doesn't make much sense...as compared to intrarticular or other localized delivery of the stem cells to target tissues...SCT isn't approved for either use-I just don't understand why this is being offered in these cases, wiothout any scientific evidence to suppoort it's use-in fact more evidence to the contrary stem cell therapy> > > Hello,> Is anybody getting cases in f or rehab that have gone through stem cell > therapy? HI Petra,

I have had some gratifying success with hips and elbows in cases of severe OA.

Although as others have mentioned, the ROM is not improved the comfort level is

significantly improved, and very early on after injections.

The dogs have been more anxious to go on walks, and without prolonged soreness.

Also better at getting up, going up stairs and getting into the car. Also more

sociable, assumed to be less uncomfortable.

Still no long term results.
