Guest guest
A friend of mine told me that she set up a special trust for her child with special needs...from what I understand, the government has an asset limit of $2,000; i.e., your child can have no more than that in assets or he will not be able to access government benefits...for this reason alone, you should consult a special needs attorney...maybe someone on the list can recommend one. Also, you can call the local autism society or ARC and they have seminars or can put you in touch with attorneys who are knowledgable. Remember, not any attorney will do; only with experience in special needs trusts (or that;s what I have heard). R.
