" · Date: Saturday, January 20th, 2007 · Times: 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. · Cost: $25 per person if received by December 22nd, $35 if received thereafter. Lunch is included in the price. · Location: University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley Room 1229 (Lecture Hall) Attendance is limited and pre-registration is required. About the workshop: Learn research-proven strategies to assist children with autism in developing speech and refining articulation skills. These strategies, based on research in the field of speech-language pathology and behavioral classification of language are especially appropriate for children who are experiencing difficulty in development of speech. Methods for systematically shaping functional verbal or motor communication in children with limited verbal and motor imitation will be addressed. About the speaker: Tamara Kasper, MS SLP/CCC, BCBA has practiced as a pediatric speech/language pathologist with emphasis on treatment of children with challenging behaviors for over 14 years. For the last nine years, she has specialized in the treatment of children with autism spectrum disorders and has consulted to various intensive autism treatment programs. Ms. Kasper is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and has also completed advanced training and self-study in treatment of apraxia of speech, including Kaufman's strategies for apraxia of speech. She has been awarded the ACE Award for Continuing Education by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She has developed and presented university courses and workshops for school districts, clinics, parent groups, and professional organizations throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and further abroad.
