Oh, ! Thank you for sharing the good news! It is so hard to know

what " brings on " the OCD and/or what makes it seemingly disappear

overnight -- but, whatever it is, enjoy this good time! And, again,

thanks for letting us share in it a bit . . . makes me feel so good to

hear the success stories (and, even more, to live them)!

If he is doing well with the native remedies, I would add omegas, (coromega is

good, or Nordic Naturals for kids, or Omegabrite) as well as a calcium/magnesium

supplement and a vitamin b complex.

I know many need meds.  For my son, he has not and does beautifully on these.  I

think for him and whatever it is in his body that causes his ocd, he responds

very well to this treatment.

Congrats!

Hi all,

A week ago I posted about my 9 yr old son, who was having extreme

difficulty with crying in school. He had started throwing up in the

morning before school, and I found out he was leaving the classroom

10-12 times a day to go to the nurse, bathroom or guidance

counselor. His anxiety level was so high. I felt he had reached the

point of needing meds, and scheduled a psych evaluation for after

Christmas. Well, he's done a complete turnaround in a week!

I wish I knew why! He's been taking Native Remedy products for

almost 5 weeks now - supposedly results are seen in 3-5 weeks. Is

that it? He seemed to finally start to come to terms with his

grandpa's recent death - talking about it, writing about it, making

posters about him. Is that it? He met with his therapist again

earlier this week, and he came out seeming so energized. She showed

him pictures in a textbook of a brainscan done on a person with OCD

before therapy and after learning CBT/ERP - the " after " picture was

considered " normal. " Is that it? Or is he just waning?

I told him that he couldn't be leaving the classroom so many times a

day, and that the teacher was going to limit him to 4 passes a day,

or else he'd have to make up the missed time after school. He said

she had never told him that he couldn't go whenever he wanted, and he

was just leaving so much because he gets so bored. So now he's only

leaving 1-3 times a day.

He certainly isn't " fine, " and he still is having thoughts about me

and my husband dying. He says that it's because Grandpa just died,

and it made him realize that we could die at any time also. He knows

grandpa died because he was very old, but he's just thinking about it

more now.

Someone here (Barb?) mentioned the Waldorf Nine Year Change. I think

that's part of what's going on with him. Whatever it is, I'm just

grateful for the break right now. I asked his therapist if she

thought he should still get the psych evaluation, and she thought we

should cancel and wait and see how he is. She doesn't feel he's bad

enough for meds yet. Of course I realize this could all change in

the blink of an eye, but for now, we'll hold off.

Just had to share my bit of good news with all of you. I love this

group so much, you have no idea.

Oh, , that is so great that he is doing better. I hope this is a

turning point for him. . .That he is responding well to something

that's been tried. Yet, even if it's just a bit of a break, it is

appreciated. (been there) Whatever is going on. . Yay! Glad he is

having a bit of an easier time. It's good to hear. :o)

Hi ,

He is also taking Omegabrite, as well as a calcium/magnesium

supplement. The Native Remedies Nerve Tonic that I started 2 weeks ago

also contains some magnesium. I know I've read that magnesium can have

a calming effect. Anything is worth a try!

,

It is also that you say he is leaving because he is bored.  My son, ocd onset at

10, had 2 teachers that year and he did much much better ocd wise with the one

who kept them busy all the time.  He felt he had too much time with the other

teacher and it allowed his thoughts to roam, which certainly wasn't good at that

time!

It may be something you want to consider before next year as far as who his

teacher may be.
