Guest guest
Wow! I am shocked! The two drugs that make up Advair are Flovent and Serevent. It would be my guess that it is the serevent causing problems...however, I do not know that for sure. I have heard that serevent is suppose to be taken off the market but I just assumed that was because it isn't used much anymore and people who are on it were having the serevent replaced by the Advair. My son has an appointment on Friday with his pulmonologist. I plan to ask her what the scoop is on that! Thanks for the info, though! Im still trying to get my jaw up off the floor! Guest guest
Tonya, I bet that was Xolair. The cost is about right. It is new and you either get a shot every 2 weeks or once a month depending on your IgE levels. I think they are doing trials on children now. How old is your son? You might check out their web site, it is made by Genentech and Novartis, lots of good info there. Also if you don't have insurance they have a program where it is free if you qualify. There is a group on Yahoo where you can get lots of great info from people on Xoliar. The name of the group is Xolair. It has really helped them a lot, as it has me. I've been able to work in the yard for the first time since I got this asthma and allergies.-And I also am going to get off the pred completely. Anyway, Xoliar is like a miracle for me. On the Advair, It was the Serevent, and I think people were using it as a rescue inhaler. Also, it was when it was used alone, not in a combo like Advair. -- In asthma , Tonya Stoll <tstoll@i...> wrote: >

Guest guest
Tonya, I think Xolair is approved for over 12 now, but they are doing trials on kids under 12. Guest guest
I have one, save the $650. I rarely use it. Got it out last month with that pneumonia, and was swearing it was helping some, but I'm not sure anymore. After a while that ozone smell reeks and bothers me. So yea, , I think you're on to something. Welcome to the list , BTW! I just joined like 10 days ago too. I'm enjoying the help here. Guest guest
Hey . I use a natural clean air purifier because I know that ozone producing cleaners can be more harmful than good for you. You can get more information about them @ www.freshcleanairsystems.com If ozone machines cause your problems then this should be a good product for you to use instead. Guest guest
--- as you are curious here is some info Asthma Be sure that you have read carefully the cayce philosophy page as missing any one of the principles there could cost you in some form – we know we have done it. One of the most important principles outlined by cayce and others where people are suffering from any condition is to do everything they can to help others in whatever capacity they can. Cayce frequently mentioned that this would bring faster results. This is a great ingredient in helping all people to transmute their own karma. See other pages on this particularly important treatment. Asthma is a lung condition, which is characterised by widespread narrowing of the air passages within the lung. These passages can vary in size spontaneously over short periods of time, which can be triggered from different stimuli. According to a leading charity there are about 8 million people who have been diagnosed with asthma at some times in their lives. Currently about 1500 people die from asthma each year in the UK.There has been a massive increase in asthma in the last few years and millions of research money has poured into the subject to try and determine the reasons why. According to the book asthma a complete guide by Professor brostoff and gamlin Who have reviewed thousands of pieces of work by various departments, doctors, and researchers, there is a vast amount of knowledge on the subject. Those people interested in the subject would I feel do well to consult their book ISBN 07475 4043 8 These are some of the findings Numerous people have benefited greatly by doing yoga. By identifying their own common triggers or allergic reactions people's lives can be helped greatly. Strengthening the breathing muscles has also been of great benefit and research has proven this point. Check that you are not taking drugs that make your asthma worse Such as aspirin and in some people, certain drugs for glaucoma, high blood pressure, angina, migraine and thyroid problems. Avoid chest infections. Protect yourself from pollution indoor and outdoor. Check your workplace for allergens and irritants, this accounts for a great many problems. Peak flow meters put people in touch with their airways and give an early warning of asthma attacks. Review your drugs the amounts taken and the inhaler devices, some people go on taking these drugs for months without need. A management plan worked out with your doctor is extremely useful. Professor brostof recommends osteopathy treatment Vigorous exercise is highly recommended, studies have shown that people who do exercise require fewer drugs Lose weight, studies have shown people who are more overweight have a higher chance of developing the disease. There appears that there is good evidence now that the western diet with its high fat and salt intake and low fruit and vegetables is part of the reason for the epidemic of asthma. Just have a look at this study on cats our feline friends. The Pottinger Cat Experiments illustrate the genetic tendency principles. In the 1940's, a medical doctor, Francis M. Pottinger, made an experiment using 900 cats to determine what effects processed foods have on the body. The cats were divided into five groups. Two of the groups were fed whole foods-raw milk and meat - real foods for cats. The other three groups were given denatured foods pasteurized, evaporated and condensed milk. All the groups were fed the same minimal basic diet to sustain life. However, the predominant portion of the diets was either real foods or denatured foods as listed above. The cats were observed over a four-generation period and the following results were documented by Dr. Pottinger: POTTINGER CAT EXPERIMENT SUMMARY GROUP A B C D E FOOD FED raw meat raw milk evaporated milk/condensed milk 1st Generation remained healthy remained healthy developed diseases and illnesses near end of life 2nd Generation remained healthy remained healthy developed diseases and illnesses in middle of life 3rd Generation remained healthy remained healthy developed diseases and illnesses in beginning of life; many died before six months of age 4th Generation remained healthy remained healthy no fourth generation was produced: either third generation parents were sterile, or fourth generation cats were aborted before birth Fumes of many of the household things we use are a contributing factor for some people. Fatal asthma attacks come on very quickly so do not delay going to hospital if your symptoms start to get much worse. A quarter of fatals die within 30 mins of an attack. Nocturnal asthma is the most serious as most people die from an attack at night. Those who die from an asthma attack very often have been exposed to a large dose of an allergen within the last 24 hrs Antibiotics if given to babies within the first two yrs double the risk of getting asthma. Some antibiotics are worse than others. At the end of a long course of steroids – anything more than 3 weeks, children are especially vulnerable to developing asthma for up to a year after. Anyone who smokes while suffering from asthma must have a death wish, it is paramount to not even start and anyone who does smoke should give up immediately. Asthma does run in certain families or the susceptibility to it. Swimming does seem to help some people with reports of peak flow improving after having done the swim, other reports indicate that the humidity helps the airways. There is a considerable amount of evidence, which supports the view that people who have moved from areas where there was a small amount of asthma to the west have doubled their chances of contracting the disease. People moving from Tokelau to newzealand, Asians coming from east Africa then moving to Britain and many other examples. Factors which seem to encourage asthma- according to our learned professor 1.Allergens from dust, pet's pollen, moulds either in the mothers blood during pregnancy or in the air at birth. 2.Natural antibodies in the mothers breast milk 3.Other microbes 4.Natural bacteria in the gut, which can be altered by taking antibiotics. 5.Parsitic worms 6.Vaccinations 7Toxic chemicals from tobacco in the mothers bloodstream if she smokes when pregnant. 8Irritants such as tobacco smoke and nitrogen dioxide in the air that the baby breathes. Triggers According to out learned professor these are some of the most common triggers. 1Cold or very dry air. 2Certain ways of exercising. 3.Colds and chest infections. 4.Emotional upsets and stressful situations. 5.Excitement. 6.Industrial pollution. 7.Traffic pollution. 8.Irritants such as smoking, fly spray, airfreshener, or other aerosols. 9.Irritants in the air at work. 10Srong smells, even pleasant ones. 11.Sulphur dioxide given off by certain foods and drinks. 12 Aspirin and aspirin like drugs and it appears that these can affect you even if you have taken them before without ill effect. 13 Thunderstorms. Other triggers 14.Certain foods. 15.Nitrogen dioxide as found in the kitchen. 16.Certain household cleaning products give off sulphur dioxide, which can cause fatal attacks. 17Mould. 18People who have reduced or stopped a long course of steroid medication. 19Antibiotics given during the first two years of life double the chance of asthma developing. 20 People who develop asthma at work should leave the job or get a transfer ASAP, most that get asthma at work have it forever. 21Asthmatics, who use ventolin far too often, over use has been fatal. 22.Ignoring exercise-induced asthma has also been fatal. Life conditioning and suggestion Let me explain that term a little more, does anyone remember Pavlov's dog who was fed food at the blow of a bell, eventually the dog would salivate at the sound of a bell even though there was no food on offer. That is conditioning An example of suggestion would be telling people who were allergic to grass pollen that they were actually breathing it even though you knew they were inhaling something harmless- some would actually have asthma attacks. What is more telling them they were having a reliever drug would stop the attack. Such is the incredible power of suggestion. What does this mean in the real world? Well if you were allergic to cats and you saw one even if on the tv may be enough to start you wheezing, if this occurs you have been conditioned from the repeated attacks from that stimuli. Another real example was of a lady who had a particularly bad experience when she was a child from her father. She noticed that her symptoms got worse whenever he was around even if he was on the phone. She had been abused by her father. Gladly with the help of psychotherapy she got much better. Another asthmatic believed she was allergic to goldfish and even the gold fish bowl –this is impossible, as they do not produce any airborne irritants. However tests showed that there was significant narrowing of her airways from both of that stimuli. Eventually the problem was traced to a particularly traumatic event in childhood when her mother took the child's goldfish and threw both in the dustbin. In both of these cases there was underlying asthma which when the psychological factor was added triggered a reaction. It is very rare apparently to find an asthmatic that has attacks solely triggered from these kinds of stimuli. All of these examples only go to show that we are very complicated beings and are totally unaware at a conscious level of past conditioning. According to Professor john brostoff Asthma can also run in families, where he mentions a susceptibility to the problem being passed on usually in the form of certain allergies. In all cases the allergy is a mistaken reaction by the bodies defence system against a harmless substance such as pollen dust or particles from pets. Once the airway has become inflamed by the allergic reaction it is then very sensitive to irritants such as cold air, fast breathing and other triggers. It would seem that there are a variety of triggers, which can bring on an attack. Edgar Cayce approach to healing Asthma There are quite a few principles which cayce advocated 1.All healing comes from the infinite – that means from attunement and harmony with our spiritual source 2. At the same time each person must take responsibility for his or her health and healing process. No one can simply sit back waiting passively for healing to occur. 3.All healing is the changing of the vibrations within no one can hate his neighbor and not get stomach upsets as a result. Thoughts are real and have weight and value. 4.Cayce warned people about certain drugs and talked about them as palliatives that deceive the soul with half-truths and temporary relief. 5 He also mentioned that the very best treatment procedure could bring about a temporary worsening of conditions. If we did not recognize this we could give up just as there was a change in our health. Emphasis was also placed upon self-acceptance. As we rid ourselves of self-condemnation we make room for healing forces to work. Optimism and hope .We are encouraged to expect healing Patience, we must be willing to invest whatever time and trouble it takes. 6 We are encouraged to use creative visualization to stimulate our own healing, which usually takes more than a few sessions. 7.A commitment to a purposeful life .Not just any purpose but one which reflects care for other people. To help balance our karma. 8. There appears to be quite a few causes for this problem.Cayce gave 73 readings for 23 people and specified the causes to have its origin in the neuralgic stimuli which were touched off by either lesions and adhesions in the bronchi and larynx or by pressures exerted in the autonomic ganglia and their connections with the cerebrospinal system. In other words spinal problems were involved occurring mainly in the dorsal and cervical area. Poor spinal misalignments combined with certain other factors such as stress or poor diet would also cause the bronchi to constrict bringing on an asthmatic attack. Frequently congestion would result and toxins which were not fully eliminated from the lungs would cause a reaction in the kidneys and liver. Glands associated with the assimilation system would also come involved. An interesting exercise was mentioned for strengthening the lungs, this came I believe from Harold reilly he found that by blowing up several balloons a day this aided conditions of asthma, emphysema and other disorders. A review of the circulating file on asthma In case 5004 asthma started when he was just a boy after a severe bout of flu, when he was delirious Lesions were formed here in the bronchi and the larynx as a result of the infection. In another case an injury caused a lesion, which in turn created disturbing conditions in the bronchial tree. When that part of the body tried to seal itself off inflammation came about with adhesions developing in the bronchial tree. These in turn disturbed the assimilation and elimination processes. Occasionally there will be dizzy spells associated with the asthma or visual or auditory problems. These have their origin in the same centers of control in the ganglia, which have been affected. There are connections between the first second and third dorsal that connect directly to the sensory system hence dizziness, auditory and visual problems can sometimes occur. After these lesions are once created the patterns of activity which most people have tend to point the finger at external stimuli causing the problem. Cayce made this statement that the body has the capability of normal function and thus we would administer those therapies which bring about an activity from the body itself rather than becoming dependent on supplies that are robbing portions of the system to produce the affects which we are after. Cayce was pointing the finger clearly at the nervous system and to remove any adverse stimulating factors from pressures which may exist in the bronchial dorsal and cervical ganglia thus a series of osteopathic adjustments should be made and long enough for proper function to be made. The eliminations, which may have been disturbed, have to be brought back to normal and in balance with the assimilations. The deep and superficial circulation which is often disturbed should be restored. The glands of the body should be brought also into balance. Irritation of an external nature should be eliminated. Dietary adjustments should be made, which are very important with a severe restriction of sweets, only honey once a day was allowed no white bread potatoes tomatoes or dried beans or rice. All fruits vegetables and nuts were desirable Fowl of fish for protein. Colonics should be given weekly for 2-3 weeks then perhaps once monthly. Enemas could be used if colonics were not available. Atomidine can be given in a series this is to balance the glands one drop daily in half a glass of water for five days stop for three days then to two drops daily for five days stop for three days. Then back to one drop daily then a rest and start the regime again. These factors applied in a therapeutic regime need to be done with patience and persistence. Acute attacks of asthma were controlled in various ways although it is implied that when other forms of therapy have begun the attacks would become less severe. Calcidin 1-5 drops in 5 ounces of warm water sipped every 15-20 mins is one suggestion. Atomidine 6 drops in a tablespoon of water sipped entirely once every 6 hrs is another. Special inhalants were also advisee such as to 4 oz of grain alcohol add oil of eucalyptus 20 mins, rectified oil of turpentine 5mns,compund tincture of benzoin 15mns. Apple brandy fumes from a charred oak keg were also recommended this was prepared by taking either a 1- 2 gall charred oak keg and filling it with pure apple brandy just half a gallon. Drill 2 holes in the top and breathe the fumes twice a day, the keg should be placed near a heat appliance of some kind to enable the fumes to come off readily. This acts as a purifier of tissue but also allows the tissue to be revivified. To one female adult 85-1 who had an injury a lesion was found in the area of the 456 dorsal which was triggering off sympathetic ganglia causing the asthma. Corrections with deep manipulation applying at the same time mercury lamps which would relax the congested part of her and also bring about better conditions within the nerves and tissue themselves. Little sweets at all were to be eaten Also advised was 5-10grain tablets of calcidin dissolved before eaten 2 a day preferably in the evenings when the congestion shows or spasmodic conditions occur take these up to the time when the congestion has been removed. Persistance was advised. AReport back from the patient confirmed the injury at the top of the spine, which was the original cause. 90-1 male adult General advice was to avoid sweets entirely, as these would cause irritation and also avoid tea and coffee or any of that nature 36-42 osteopathic adjustments applying heat at the same time. Calcidin recommended. 227-1 male adult This patient had complications with his heart Osteopathic adjustments and calcidin were recommended. 304-2male 68 Spinal Lesions and scars were the seat of the trouble. 527-1 male adult Spinal Lesions affecting the 3 and 4 dorsal, which were causing the problems, triggers for the asthma attacks were various, but the underlying cause were the lesions. Symptoms were various –mucous, problems with the nasal cavity, the hearing the eye soreness of the soft tissue of the face, burning at times of the bronchi, even atmospheric pressure changes produced some irritation these were reflex actions coming from the action of the lesions. Cayce said despite the severity of the problem that with persistence all of these conditions would be overcome Osteopathic adjustments were recommended and diet changes, an inhalant, and atomidine. Improvements were made in direct accordance with complying with the suggestions as given by cayce it seems. 595-1Male adult A Germ acting with a sublaxation [spinal problem] was at the seat of the problem. Osteopathic adjustments, diet changes, an inhalant, calcidin, apple brandy mixed with rock candy drunk very slowly no more than two teaspoons. A course of Atomidine and a warning that the person should not get overheated or cold or even cold feet while the applications were being made. 656-1male teenager This was an interesting case in that cayce said that there were various effects, which could be seen in varying atmospheric pressure changes. Various ganglia were being affected by the changes. A sublaxation spinal problem was sited as the problem with mention of various and numerous triggers, which affected the body directly. A move to a more stable place was recommended like Carolina, New Mexico, Arizona where there was more sunshine and less atmospheric pressure changes. Osteopathic adjustments, diet changes, calcidin and onion packs which were to be placed over the right lung and caecum were all recommended. Again with consistence cayce said that results would be forthcoming. 861-1 Generally followed along the same lines of treatment but cautioned the person about any sweets and white potatoes and no fried food as these produced unwanted affects in the system. 1787-1 male 48 Here was another case but the cause was sited as scar tissue caused from too high a temperature exposure which gave an asthmatic condition, which could then be triggered by all sorts of things like pressure changes, or inhaling dust. Recommended treatment -Osteopathic adjustments given in a series, the fumes of apple brandy from an charred oak keg, this was also mentioned at the A.R.E. clinic in Arizona.Diet changes, calcios, enemas to cleanse the colon. 2424 male 51 A case that was diagnosed as glandular problems with lesions which had symptoms of asthma was also quite interesting, symptoms included blood pressure, blood flow problems, organs of the senses not working properly, assimilation problems, respiratory problems, digestive system problems. A cleansing of the glands was the first priority, a drop of atomidine in half a glass of water in the morning before any meal is taken for 5 days, and then 2 drops for 5 days then leave off entirely. Then take 5 drops of elixir of lactated pepsin. This is to change the character of the assimilations. On the 6th day start with the osteopathic adjustments especially in the brachial plexus, the bronchi, the larynx, head and neck, during the time of the adjustments take 1-2 spoons of milk of magnesia, this was to make the body more alkaline. Dietary changes as has been given earlier. Cayce mentioned that you might feel a little worse to begin with but to stick at it. 2755 male aged 8 Rather the same format regarding the cause as lesions[ spinal problems] but with the added remark that some attacks can come on as a result of mental associations rather than actual Physical conditions. 3453-1 female 33 Severe case of asthma with an attack lasting over 5 weeks. Cayce found lesions and sublaxations [spinal problems] to be the seat of the trouble, which required a long series of adjustments. With an added tip of mentioning when an attack was coming to use an inhalant, by using a compound tincture of benzoin and oil of eucalyptus- equal amounts in boiling water and place a cover over your head and then breathe in the fumes. Good eliminations were also advised. Dietary changes as already given – no sweets. This patient had 4 or more attacks and a further check reading was given which cayce pointed the finger at her diet as she had been having too much sweets and candies. These he said had caused these attacks. 3485 male 51 This case is as a lesson to us all, this man had been suffering from asthma since 5 yrs old. Cayce found that there was much confusion with this person and stressed that the attitudes of this person would have to change if there was to see any kind of healing for here was a person who was meeting his own self or the result of selfs actions. What was demanded of others you must pay your self. Every soul must remember not to demand of others more than you are willing to give for you will pay and as most through thy gills. Cayce would not give this man any information regarding improving his health even knowing that what he was taking at that time was no having much effect. Cayce cautioned him to make the world a better place to live. 3738 male 10 Cayce found lesions[ spinal problems] as a result it would appear from the manner of being born, which in turn caused the asthma, the usual recommendations were made with a nice result in that they were followed to the letter and as a result the asthma was cured. 5360-male56 Spinal Lesions were at the cause of the trouble again, but there was an interesting symptom in that there was a rapid heart beat which cayce found the cause to be strictures in the brachial centers. His health improved very much in short time it would appear. In Harold reillys book he mentions that people who used a balloon by inflating it improved the strength of their lungs which helped their asthma. Always and as ever spiritual healing/reiki has the capacity in overcoming this disease – see the article on this fascinating energy.
Guest guest
No, you can give with the rest of your supps. Liquid is easier on taste buds, for sure! We saw hyperactivity for about 2 weeks but big language and cognitive gains. Yeasty behavior after about 3 weeks and we started Nizoral after 4 weeks. Definitely have a good antifungal on board! We saw *amazing* gains after adding the anti-fungal. Valtrex alone was nice but once we had both we saw real "wows".CherylHi,we are just starting valtrex. I had it compounded in a liquid suspension so I'm hoping the taste won't be as bitter as I've heard the pills are. Should it be given away from supplements? If so, how long?I would also like to know how soon you have seen changes either good or bad after starting the valtrex. Thank you.Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell?Check out new cars at Yahoo!
