Guest guest
Hello, I have been teaching(ABA/VB) to a boy age 5 diagnosed with Autism, for about a year now. There are 3 other therapists that also work with him. Right now he only has verball approximations and a few signs. His progress is extremly slow. Overall, my percentages of requests and certain objectives are higher then compared to the other therapists. He also does not have the behaviors with me that he has with the other therapists. The parents do not have Him request anything. For example I have suggested to place his juice up high in the cabinet, because before he had access to it. The Dad wouldn't even have him say juice, he would just fix the straw for him. The Mom followed through for a couple days and the boy was beginning to request juice from the Mom, However he never went to the Dad. I have tried to break it down for her but why should he talk for them when everything is handed to him. My job isnt to teach him to talk to me, its to teach him to talk to them. The other problem is the inconsistancy with the therapists. If their percentages were as high as mine, he probally would be moving faster. Please help me explain how important carryover is. I know they want to help him. I'm leaving in September and I just want to try and explain one more time. Maybe I'am explaining it wrong. Thankyou Emma
