Guest guest
Hello Dr. Krause.Use of the Erchonia laser in this case would be appropriate, I think, for reduction of pain and inflammation and to promote healing. I am not familiar with the frequencies and am certain that there's not much (if anything) in the literature about different frequencies of laser treatment. (Correct me if I'm wrong!) The important variables are the wavelength and power.Who would be doing the treatment? You, the owner, the chiropractor?AmieHello,I have one year old MN Akita that has undergone three surgeries to correct mpl. First a tibial tuberosity transposition, second a trochleoplasty and third a corrective femur osteotomy (done yesterday). My client sees a chiropractor that has an Erchonia cold laser that she claims he uses on 'adhesion frequency'. She wants to use this around his knee. My questions are: 1.) Is this an appropriate and effective modality for this condition? 2.) Is it safe to use over the plates and screws? 3.) Does anyone know if this is an appropriate setting? I know adhesions can cause problems but the body needs to scar to heal and stabilize from the surgery.Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.Angie Krause, DVM
Guest guest
Sounds like good marketing to me however very little science! Class IIIa lasers are basically laser pointers. The PL5 is 635nm wavelength w/ (4) 5mW diodes. While I am certain there is anecdotal success stories (from those who own them) with this laser my question would be why don't they go to Staples, Office Depot, etc and purchase 4 laser pointer and tape them together? I have a Respond class 3B laser but am unfamiliar with her Vet's unit. It is made by Erchonia, I think the Vet model is the PL5. She said the protocol is: " She called it Cold Laser Therapy - they give a total of 11 treatments - and it's something like 2 per day for the first 3 days, 1 1/2 hours apart - then 1 per day for the remainder. " She didn't quote the cost but said it is very expensive. Is anyone familiar with this unit and or protocol and have any input one way or the other. Thanks and Merry Christmas to all.
