Guest guest
Hi all, My 8 1/2 year old daughter (OCD/GAD) has been on Lexapro since January with pretty good results. Over the summer she gained 12 pounds (!) and also started having more and more frequent episodes. The psychiatrist raised her meds to 10 ml. whiched helped a little, but also made my daughter VERY oppositional and defiant, not her personality at all. She is normally VERY cooperative and sweet. We are now seeing anger and agression - very new for her. The psych. said that with the meds this high, her anxiety level is " too low " , as we all need a little anxiety to control ourselves. She suggested we start therapy again (had stopped because daughter couldn't handle it..) So we started up again today with a new therapist and it actually went OK. The therapist felt we needed a mood stabilizer medication to balance out the high dose of Lexapro. Has anyone else done this? Other thoughts? Thank you so much, I REALLY cherish this group!!
