Guest guest
You are definateyly NOT on your own with regard to OCD! CBT/ERP (cognative behavior therapy/exposure response pervention) with or without meds can be very effective. The key is finding someone who does it for a child that young. My son was diagnosed at 34 and we had a hard time finding a qualified therapist. I suggest looking immediately. Call and ask what their approach to OCD is. If they say anything other than CBT/ERP then dont waste your time with them. I personally have also found craniosacral therapy very effective for OCD and it has huge success with autism spectrum stuff. Also omega 3 (fish oil, flax seed), vitamin B complex. I also did the finegold diet for ADHD and find a high protien low carb diet really helps(steady blood sugar levels). I don;t really know about the other stuff because my son has isolated OCD. In the end, the labels arent what matter- it is helping to find effective help or your child. A label without obvious solutions is irrelevant. If ODD has treatments or behavioral guidelines to follow, I would follow them with or without the label if he is leaning that direction. Good luck, this board is a great source of knowlege and resources
