Guest guest
Now that sounds like a plan... I'm told there's a native tradition that teens are raised by an aunt and uncle. Think it's too late to convert? I'm told I have some native blood in me, not sure on this, but seems worth claiming just for this benefit alone...!!! Now that wouldn't be St.'s Newfoundland would it? You don't want to go and live on that piece of rock in the middle of nowhere just to get away do you? Not sure which would be worse??? Kidding!!! If anyone out there from NFLD reading this, I love your island, especially the hospitable people! Anyway, hiding is futile, they seem to have radar, they'll find you wherever you are, and tell you exactly why you can't be leaving, and just when you start to feel guilty and negligent they'll tell you " it's your job to do XYZ " , and then you'll feel guilt free as you hightale it out of there! Hugs to you! Barb > >
Guest guest
No, I meant St. , US Virgin Islands. I live in New England. We just got 14 inches of snow Friday and 6 more inches on the way this afternoon. When I run away, it will be to someplace warm and the only thing getting shoveled is sand. I figure that by the time the kids reach puberty, we'll have gotten a handle on my son's PANDAS and it'll be my daughter who drives me to the point that L'Oreal no longer covers the greys. That's when I plan to put a few trays of lasagna in the freezer before I go, and they can email me when they lose the directions on how to reheat it. In all seriousness, I wouldn't trade one second of my time with them. Even the horrible times when the disease is in full swing. I waited until I was 38 to become a mother. It's by far the best thing I've ever done in life and I cherish every nerve racking moment. (But I do gaze at the picture of my honeymoon in St 's that's in the living room, especially on snowy days) > > Now that sounds like a plan... Guest guest
Hi , I'm just north/west of you, in Ontario, Canada, and experiencing the same. We may all be buried under by Christmas! I'm just thrilled it's the winter soltace today and am looking forward to longer days and more light. Kind of an endurance test, right? We were fortunate enought to inherit a snowblower, but it just died, perfect timing. I know what my husband is wishing for this Christmas... I'm glad you were blessed with your children and cherish this time. I love my kid too, but I'll tell you some days...cherish is not the word I'd use, trade in comes to mind... Seriously, despite all the grief, it is wonderful to see the evolution of an individual and be part of the whole growth experience. I see glimmers of maturity all the time, and that is encouraging. We'll get there. Barb > > No, I meant St. , US Virgin Islands. I live in New England. We > just got 14 inches of snow Friday and 6 more inches on the way this > afternoon. Guest guest
Merry White Christmas! Happy shovelling!!! My hubby is out there as I type, sadly my back does not allow me to participate... Now up here in Canada we measure in centimeters, 15-20 of them today, not sure the conversion. But do you have the white squalls(is that the word?), and the searing bone chilling cold??? HO HO HO...... Hugs. Guest guest
What a coincidence! I just got back from a heavenly week in St. . I didn't know anyone else knew about this small paradise. In times of trouble I also visualize myself in the water of St. . There's also a small island nearby called Jost van Dyke with a little shack on the beach called the Soggy Dollar Bar where they serve a drink called the " Painkiller " . Did you happen to go there? Now it's back to my son's enemy OCD. CBT working a little bit, it's only been a month since we switched therapists. Received an insurance payment for a $360 claim I submitted and the check was for $3.68. Many thanks BlueCross PPO!! I've been doing a lot of OCD research on the NIMH website. Many people researching OCD (pursuing causes, but not close to any treatment really). Interesting ideas about damage to the basal ganglia. I can burst into tears at a moment's notice when I see my once vibrant happy son unable to walk through the kitchen door because of contamination.
