Houston, Texas. Feat-Houston has long partnered with TxABA-SIG (Texas Association of Behavior Analysts Autism Special Interest Group) to offer a low cost, high quality, six hour intensive, hands-on training for parents, teachers, and therapists interested in learning the basic principles of Applied Behavior Analysis for use with their children with autism or other disabilities. The workshops have been held in English due to the difficulty of locating a native Spanish speaker with proper credentials to present the information. In fall of 2005, FEAT-Houston invited Dr. Aparicio Naranjo to present the ABC’s workshop in Spanish. Dr. Aparicio received his doctorate in psychology from the University of New Hampshire. He is a professor at the University of Guadalajara where he works at the Research Center for Behavioral Studies. The two set DVD is the professional recording of that ABC’s workshop he presented. It can be used in a few ways. By Individuals ü Spanish-speaking parents can use this to learn about ABA ü Spanish-speaking teachers, aides, day care workers, speech pathologists, physical and occupational therapists, nurses, social workers, psychologists and others who work on a daily basis with children with autism or other developmental disabilities can use this privately to learn and review basic concepts about ABA. ü Native English speakers can use this set to learn ABA related vocabulary to better serve their Spanish-speaking clients.
