PART TIME TEACHER THERAPIST WANTED

A Part time teacher/therapist is needed to join a team implementing an in-home

early intervention program of Applied Behaviour Analysis for a child with

Autism.

The program includes Discrete Trial Teaching, play skills, language development,

school integration, and incidental learning.

You will report to the parents and program leader. You will work one-on-one with

the child. The position is located in Hamilton near Parkdale Ave. & Main St.

Hours are flexible. Rate of pay based on experience. (Respite opportunity also

available.)

Qualifications

Degree or student working toward a Degree in a related field is an asset.

(Autism and behavioural science, child development education, psychology, speech

therapy, occupational therapy, personal support worker etc.)

Strong desire and aptitude for working with children - warm, caring, and patient

personality

Highly committed, reliable and creative

Possesses and is able to apply good judgement and problem solving skills

Able to make at least a 6-month commitment

Experience doing Discrete Trial Training (also called behaviour therapy, or ABA)

is an asset, although not essential as training will be provided.

This opportunity to learn valuable teaching and therapeutic techniques would

appeal to someone who wants to enrich their skills and who may have the goal of

working with children with special needs.
