My 2 cents, ______________________ I agree wholeheartedly. At age 3 3/.4 yrs, my low-functioning autistic son underwent neuropsych testing. I was told that he had a " normal IQ " , but each of the nouns, words, adjectives, etc, that we had taught him had been learned only through HUNDREDS of errorless teaching trials, along with intensive generalization. He is now 14, & tests as having language at the 4-6 year level. His rate of acquisition for nouns & verbs is much faster now (approx 10-20 trials), but things like prepositions are much more difficult...
