Guest guest
Hi all, I've just been hired to teach an Autistic preschool class. It will begin in a week starting with 3 boys who just turned three years old. It will be their first preschool experience. Does anyone have any suggestions about beginning a new class. Techniques, Procedures, Ideas etc. Any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated. I want to do the best job possible. You all have such great advice. Guest guest
I'd recommend as much structure as possible. A schedule that details their day with pictures helps, and a clutter-free environment. These work for any preschooler in my opinion (I'm a typical preschool teacher). Other than that, it mostly depends on the various needs of your little guys, especially when it comes to their current communication levels and sensory deficits. And if their are typicals in your classroom as well. Hope this helps.
