Guest guest
Hi Vicki, thanks for writing. At this point I'm not sure if its a TS tic or OCD...I'm just not sure. If it were OCD, Id feel comfortable telling him....no way...but its the doubt that's hanging me up. If its a TS tic...he really cant stop, then we will have to find a substitute tic. I'm not sure. He sees a psychologist Wednesday, so then I will hopefully have some answers, and know how to handle this. I'm so glad its working for you guys, hopefully it will work for us. Thanks so much for writing, its so nice to have so many people that understand, and care. Thank you Vicki. In a message dated 12/7/2008 4:19:12 P.M. I went to our son's psychiatrist and he told me something that I didn't expect the other day... he said when you talk to your son... who is 9, tell him very calmly... My expectations are that you will do this or don't do that.... so, with yours... you can say, my expectations of you are that you will get up and use the bathroom. I thought... " okay Doc.... yeah right! " well, lo and behold, I have been very calmly telling my kids that I expect this or expect that... in a nice way and I am telling you, their response has been amazing!!!!!amazing!!amazing!!amazing!!amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! idea... but it isn't... Also... our psychiatrist told us to talk with our son about his ocd... to say, I know that your mind is telling you to do this or do that, but you need to tell your mind... no, I am not going to do that... and explain that even though it is hard, the more practice he has at it, the easier it will get.... Just a few ideas that are helping us... I know we never know what will work for our own children until we try it... I am so happy you are having a better day and that he had a successful day.....
