Verbal Behavior – Special Interest Group

The Association for Behavior Analysis

STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION

February 27, 2007

Dear student members of ABA,

One of the missions of the VB-SIG is to promote research in the area of verbal

behavior. One way of accomplishing this mission is to provide awards to students

who are conducting research in verbal behavior.

We are pleased to announce that the VB-SIG is offering a competition for a

student research paper. The paper must be original research in the area of

verbal behavior with an undergraduate or graduate student as the first author. A

submitted paper can be a contribution of a conceptual analysis, a study

conducted in the area of basic research, or an empirical investigation conducted

under an applied framework. Submissions are restricted to researchers who are

either current student members of ABA or individuals in their first year out of

the school in which they conducted the research. Submissions should adhere to

APA publication guidelines and be no longer than 30 pages.

Submissions will be reviewed by advanced researchers in verbal behavior and

awards will be presented to the authors of the three best papers. All three

winners will be presented with a new issue of The Analysis of Verbal Behavior

journal and a plaque at the VB-SIG meeting at the 2007 ABA conference in San

Diego. The first place winner will also receive $50 and the second place winner

will receive $30.

Please send questions and submissions with contact information to Judah Axe at:

axe.3@... (axe.3ATosu.edu)

or submit by snail mail to:

Judah Axe

1087 Say Avenue

Columbus, OH 43201

The deadline for submission is Monday, March 5, 2007. Notification of award

status will be no later than Monday, May 7, 2007.

Best of luck to all student researchers who submit a verbal behavior paper!

Sincerely,
