Guest guest
We are going through the same battle right now. We saw the psychiatrist for 2 hours Mon. and the psychologist for 2 hours Tues. My son has been having a bad episode for about twelve weeks of tics, obsessions, attention issues and emotional trouble. They didn't change his meds until next months visit since it was our first time there and they wanted to review his complex history of PANDAS/tics symptoms. However one thing she did mention is that kids with overlapping issues often require more then one med and sometimes have to take a med to counteract a neg symptom. For example for his ADHD they may need to put him on Ritalin but that can increase the tics which would mean they would have to use Chlonidine. For now we take 5 mg of Abilify AM and she added 2.5 mg Abilify in the PM. Before adding additional or changing we wanted to watch and see if symptoms changed with upping meds a we bit. If you are dealing with several disorders like we are then the meds really can get tricky. I am right there with you during this tough time. I hate using meds but what choice do you have if the child is miserable? Michele > > Hi, > My son has had OCD for 10 years. It was very severe. Guest guest
Hi Amy, My 13 yr old son has moderate to severe OCD and takes 50 mg of Celexa. I'm reading quite a bit of positive effects from Lexapro, and am wondering how much of a reduction in OCD your daughter has experienced from the 5mg. Did she also have CBT too? That is good that things have been stable for a year. I know once my son gets through a long period of being stablized, it will be a difficult decision to wean or keep things the same. -Laurie > > > Subject: Re: Re: Should we go off Lexapro (Amy) > To: > Date: Thursday, December 11, 2008, 11:36 PM > > > > > > > Hi, > My son has had OCD for 10 years.
