Guest guest
I often find that I have trouble doing a redo. Last night, I ate four big pieces of rice crisp chocolate (does anyone know that stuff or does it exist only in Germany? I haven't seen it anywhere else... it's like rice waffles with lots of chocolate on them). The crazy thing was that I ate the first two and then went to watch a movie. During commercials, I went to get something to drink and then took two more pieces (and a piece of licorice), while pondering why I was doing that. I was fully aware of the fact that I wasn't supposed to eat because I wasn't hungry (negative command by the way, I just realized that) but I ate them anyway. I even thought, taking them out of the refridgerator, that I could do a redo later. And then I didn't know how to do the redo. I didn't know what it is that I could have done instead. I still don't know what I am supposed to do in situations like that. I'm out of balance then and I don't really know how I could handle the situation. Mostly, it happens when I watch TV. I seem to associate that with eating or at least snacking. Has anyone else had that problem and how did you handle it? > > When I do something that I would like to do different next timeI do a > redo....... instead of beating myself up. > > An example for me is.... last night I went to a hen party and watched > the Sex in the City movie with a bunch of girlfriends. Guest guest
The rice crisp chocolate still exists in Germany and specialty stores. The local military commissary carries it. If I am really hungry I have some popcorn. If not I tend to chew sugarless gum.... It helps. I also have crushed ice over sparkling water! Great day! Guest guest
Hi. I know exactly what you were going through!? Remember in school when the fire marshall would come in and teach us what to do when there is a fire.? He would tell us kids to Stop, Drop and Roll.? So I apply that same idea to binging.? The moment I realize what is going on I Stop. Drop (the food) and Roll (or Tap!).? Sometimes it's easire said than done because sometimes I don't want to stop eating.? But I bargain with myself.? I'll stop drop and tap and then if I still want the whatever, I'll have it?without guilt.? So for example if the commercial came on and I went to the kitchen fully aware of what I am doing, I would stop, put down the food and ask myself what is the positive intent of eating this whatever when I am not hungry.? Say the positive intent is that it will be soothing and give me comfort.? Okay, so I will tap on feeling uncomfortable.? And then I check in and see if I still want the whatever.? Sometimes I do still want the snack.? But most of the time, I find that I would rather soothe myself with a cup of tea, a hot shower, cozy bathrobe or just curl up and finish watching the movie. Guest guest
The cup of tea actually is a great idea, because I absolutely love tea. I'll try the stop-drop-roll-technique next time! It's just so hard to even put the food down in the first place sometimes... I did a little better today but again could not resist the chocolate. I don't know exactly what is going on because I had broken through that pattern quite successfully. My dream is to be able to enjoy one (!!) piece of chocolate, savor it and enjoy every single second of having the chocolate and then be satisfied and not want anything else. I will do the redo like that tonight. I had a piece of rice crisp chocolate and one of chili chocolate. In my redo, I will contemplate the question whether I really still wanted the chocolate (I was quite full actually, about an 8, I'd say, dinner was soup - not fattening but filling). In this case, it didn't even taste that good. I didn't really look forward to the taste either. So, now that I realized that - what the heck was I trying to do by eating the chocolate? What was the good intention behind it? Something to ponder tonight... > > Hi. > I know exactly what you were going through!? Guest guest
Stop drop and roll is a great idea. BUT OMG-I am sitting at my desk reading about these Rice Chip Chocolates and literally drooling! Sweets are my weakness, and I would find that one hard to " drop " !! Guest guest
I think I may be one of th eonly folks on the planet that does not like chocolate, other than my little granddaughter, Sara, she doesn't like it either! Salty and crunchy were more my style! Leah > Stop drop and roll is a great idea.
