Robbie, welcome to the list. It's always fun to have new people. This is a

great group. Even if there are differences in opinion, it is lively but

everyone shows respect for others.

Having had the experience of working for years in a Level III perinatal

center doing 7000 deliveries a year, it's so hard to imagine a facility

doing the smaller number such as yours. But no matter how small, the same

problems arise. And I would imagine the teaching and learning opportunities

may even be greater.

I am new to the list and would like to introduce myself. I am an OB nurse

with over 20 years of experience currently serving as manager of the OB-GYN

unit at a small (60-70 deliveries per month)hospital in Alabama. I am

interested in sharing information with others about the many issues facing

our profession and our specialty today. I've already determined by a brief

scan of the postings that this will be a lively group (as are all OB

nurses!)

Thank you for the opportunity to share our experiences.

hi purpleveg and everyone!

thanks very much for your warm welcome and those great websites which

you wrote. i visited them all.

and to answer your question, although i am young, i had a very

stressful life. i occasionally had problems almost in every part of

my life.

and i gained weight as well. i dont look fat though but i began to

lose my self confidence and also after all this stress and bad way of

eating, i began to feel exhausted. i mean i was getting tired very

quickly, i became aggressive and so on. i became very anti-social as

well.i became very lonely.

then in the last couple of yrs i began to read about self

improvement, alternative medicine and health books. i was into

nutrition and finally a week ago or so i began to read one of dr.

gillian mckeith's books. she is scottish. and her book affected me a

lot in many ways. i decided to change my eating habits.

and i used to eat meat not that much and now i am a vegeterian and i

am into macrobiotics as well as a result of everything i read and

learned in the past and last week.

i can say that i found myself. since then even in some days i am now

full of energy, great energy. i feel great!

and i know that once feelin that way, i can never return to my bad

eating habits for sure.

and i am a member of various yahoo groups about self improvement and

alternative medicine and your group looked very nice as well. i

visited your home page and i decided to be a mamber and i am very

happy that i am a member of your group now. thats great! THANK YOU.

wish all of you a nice day!

take care,

If the new culture is thin do I put it in my next batch.

Any good advice on kt appreciated thanks, .

-------------------------------------------------

Yes, I'd suggest you put it and the baby, if any,

in your next few brews. Till the Scobys are strong

and healthy, then you can start putting a baby in

its own jar.

Thank you Pat. i was actually talking about the growing culture

on my tea that is thin. I had a taste today day 6 it is still i little

sweet, when do i know its ready.

------------------------------------------

If the mamma is thin, keep her and the babies together till they

grow strong.

If the tea tastes good, then it is done. I've discovered from the

folks on this forum that usually you start out liking your brew

sweetish, then your taste slowly changes and you want a real

bite to the stuff. If it is a " little " sweet today, then check it

again tomorrow. It just may be at the right stage to make you

wonder why you waited so long to start this new aquatic

mushroom.

Hi and welcome!

I've only been brewing for about 3 months and my first brew is very

fresh in my mind. The main thing I would say to you is to relax. I was

on pins and needles for my first few brews but these scobys are hardy

and want to live and do what they do.

Just make sure that your jar is tightly covered and be patient.

Also listen to the old-timers here. They really know their stuff! I am

very happy to have found this group.

It is all pretty exciting.

Cheers!

-Thank you Sandy! Is there a recipe that you thinks works best? When

I look online they all seem to be about the same but I thought

perhaps this group would know best!
