Guest guest
Hi all. I was touched by everyone's thoughtful answer to the question regarding science and ABA. I think everyone had excellent points, in particular e Quinby's take. This topic again proves how little the public really understands Autism, and the various " parking spots " on the spectrum. And as always, the question of a cure and recovery, let alone what ABA is. Thankfully, because of ABA NET and other interventions, my son is considered recovered. He is no longer disabled by autism, but yes, he still has autism! So for us, we think ABA has maximized our son's potential for learning and understanding the world we live in. He no longer requires any therapies and attends a typical 2nd grade with no IEP and a teacher with no knowledge of his EI or label. My son has Autism, and mostly likely always will. He is uniquely wired and uniquely himself, thanks to genes, environment, and yes his autism. ABA has taken the disability part away, amazingly. And I wouldn't change a thing about him today. , mother to Leo (8yrs old, original dx of PDD-NOS)
