Guest guest
Hi Mike and all, I might take a different tack on that question, which I didn't address on the other list (yet) because it kind of depends on where you are located if you need a physical address or some kind of center-based support. Typing " Homeschooling association " or " Homeschooling " into google will pull up all kinds of cybersources. It takes some wading but info is locatable. I can't speak to anyone else's state, but in ours (which is a relatively flexible homeschooling state) there are physical centers and support groups for people to get curriculum and tutoring support for subjects in which they don't have expertise, and to access social opportunities and discounts for things available to schools but not individuals. Right now there's a state legislative bill seeking some public funding for those centers. There has been some talk around putting together such a center for homeschooling parents of ASD kids in my town. So homeschooling is our responsibility, if we choose to do so, but it doesn't always mean that we can't tap into resources relevant to doing as well as we can. Guest guest
Hi Regina, and All, You have a tendency of taking " that " tack.. .;=) (Knowledge is " everywhere " ?! .. .). We have " few " specific resoure centers to homeschooling in Ontario, Canada. (The library!) Our group seems to be averse to that position. (It's corruptible? ... Not " my " basic concern? .. .) " Per se, " implies that homeschooling is done at home. The world is the resource, thereof, and I do send my kids to public school, of extracurricular activities to that... (of field trips, specialized outings, etc.. .). I'd like to think you know what I mean, but granted, some areas in the world may have what they " call " homeschooling " centers " . They could be invented as we speak... (!) But I haven't personally seen any true to homeschooling... And yes, I do " question " whether there " could " be any, in one very important sense of the word. Your input is appreciated, in helping us clear this up. My " wife " doesn't accept (or get?) that homeschooling is what we teach at home, period. She thinks of it as government based curricula taught by parents in the home usually to the exclusion of meaningful ties to the public schools, to avoid the aspect of that teaching setting. Reasonable enough. Is that " your " sense of it, Regina? We agree to be different (disagree) in that respect, of our individual terms of reference. She's not a big fan of the force/s, or pressures, of debate, seeing little value in that. Would that be a " stability " issue (with Precision Teaching)? That would be relative, no doubt. Or my wife would be here with us on that. She has been invited, over and over again! I try to make it a point not to be " my " problem, " stability " issues, of further communication, thereof. There are " so " many ways to look at homeschooling, and what " centers " exist, thereof. I just like to think of the " home " as " the " center, of homeschooling. That's just me, on that. " Resources " do exist, thereof, I'm sure you would agree, on whatever you would prefer to call it. " I " would like to check out what passes for a " center, " for the facts, thereof. Keep us posted, thereof, please do! Mike, I ABA ABA for Understanding . > > > > Hi, > > > > This was presented by me to a query on another discussion board that > > I Feel has relevance here.
