Guest guest
My son has some reading comprehension, social skills and conversational skills. He reads phonetically at a normal level and does chores around the house normally. His problem is listening to conversations and comprehension skills of long wh questions and common sense when it comes to some complex social stories. I am working with him on these social stories by Patti Mayo and the wh questions are also by Patti Mayo. Should I keep working with him or stop. He is fifteen and can memorize easily, but it seems like the work for both of us never stops. I don't mind working with him if I know for sure he is learning what I am teaching him in the right way. He memeorizes canned answers to the social situations in communication junior. When we go over the cards a lot of the times he'll come up with a right answer (one that he hasn't memorized). I let him get by with this because I feel like he is thinking and focusing on the answer. He is beginning to bring out some of these social stories into real life. Example: When we played checkers and I won he congratulated me. He has never done this before.
