Teaching Verbal Behavior: Hands-On Teaching for Tutors and Therapists (Workshop

No. 4)

· Dates: October 4, 5, and 6, 2006. (Must attend all three days;

certificates of attendance will be provided)

· Times: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily

· Registration: Limited to 25 people to ensure that every participant

will receive maximum individualized attention and training. Registration will

be handled on a " first-paid, first registered " basis based upon receipt of your

check or purchase order. See attached registration form for instructions

regarding how to register. **

· Cost: $495 per person if received by August 31st, $595 if received

after August 31st.

· Meals: Breakfast and lunch included each day.

· Location: Concordia University School, 8242 N. Granville Rd.,

· Accommodations and transportation: AmeriSuites is offering a special

rate of $79/night for workshop attendees. More details below.

· Prerequisite: Attendance at Dr. Carbone's Workshop #1: " Introduction to

The course is presented by Tamara Kasper, MS/CCC-SLP, BCABA, and Jenn Godwin,

BCABA, associates of Dr. Carbone, and their assistant(s). The workshop is

designed to provide therapists and parents with guided practice in

implementation of the teaching methods described by Dr. Vince Carbone in

Workshop No. 1. Substantial workshop time will be dedicated to guided practice

in methods of effective instruction as demonstrated via videotape during Dr.

Carbone's Introductory Workshop No. 1. Each participant will receive

individualized feedback regarding teaching methods.

Instruction and supervised practice will be provided for the following areas:

(1) establishing instructional control with an unwilling learner; (2)

manipulating motivative operations (MO) during teaching opportunities to

maintain attention and maximize learning; (3) use of the Assessment of Basic

Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) in developing instructional objectives; (4)

teaching the echoic repertoire; (5) transitioning from sign language to vocal

verbal behavior; (6) manipulating MOs to teach early to advanced manding skills;

(7) teaching early to advanced skills within the following areas: receptive,

visual performance, motor imitation, tacting, and intraverbal; (8) organizing

program materials; and (9) recording data that guides teaching.

**Due to the attendance limit, no refunds will be given for cancellations.

However, we will allow substitutions without penalty. If you must cancel, we

will do our best to assist you in finding a replacement attendee by contacting

those on our waiting list. Substitutions cannot be made after the course

begins.

Transportation:

The Milwaukee International Airport (also known as General

International Airport) is a medium-to-large size, full-service airport. Most

major airlines, including American, Northwest, United, Midwest, Airtran, etc.,

fly into Milwaukee. If you rent a car from the airport, it is an approximately

20 minute drive to the seminar location. If you prefer van service, we

the hotel or the seminar). If you prefer to rent a car after your arrival at

the hotel, the local Enterprise office will deliver a compact car to the hotel
