Guest guest
For my son, both motor imitations & verbal ims had potential to become stims, so we had to be VERY CAREFUL not to overdo practicing anything too much. Even now, at age 14, we have to be careful about what we say, what he might say & how we respond to it. ex: My kids say " oh, gross!!! " . Jon said this in response to a dirty table one day. We laughed with him, which he found quite reinforcing, Then proceeded to go around the house saying " oh, gross!!! " with the same inflections as a verbal stereotypy. I would desist " practicing " the same motor ims. The purpose of the program is not to memorize, but to learn to do different ones until it is generalized. You should make a list of varied both gross motor & fine motor actions. Marilee
