Hello again all!

I am currently working out of a general veterinary practice with little room for exercises, but we are acquiring the bay next to us (we are in a strip mall) that is 1700 square feet. Some of the new space will be used for the general practice. We are trying to plan remodeling of the space to accomodate a rehab space which will be my main working area. I was wondering how much space anyone has for their rehab practice? I am planning on one large room that will house an underwater treadmill and a dry land treadmill plus area for therapeutic exercises. Any thoughts on square footage of that room would be much appreciated!!!! Thanks!

We are also in a strip mall and took over a 1200 sq. ft bay next to our referral center. I have about 300 sq. ft for kennels, 300-400 sq. ft for prop/dry exercise and the rest is a large space with the UW and land treadmill, mechanical equipment(behind a wall) and a bathroom. I don't have a lobby or a true exam room so I generally let people wait in the prop exercise room and that is also where consults are held. Its worked out pretty well, of course I would love to have more room but it is what we were offered and it has served us well for the last 2 years. We just remodeled also and added about 700 sq ft for our rehab area. It is entirely open with the exception of an 8x10 room for exams/treatments and a 4.5ft by 14 ft mechanical room for the UWTM pumps/storage tank. We allowed for enough room to add a second UWTM. It is located in the back of the building but has a separate entrance/storefront for established rehab patients.

So, currently in the open space we have a small desk, a large portable kennel, a ferno UWTM, a land treadmill, a small set of stairs (8 feet long, 3 up and 3 down), have 8 cavaletti poles/cones and all the other miscellaneous equipment. There is plenty of room for everything to be left set up.

Have fun!!! If you would like pics I'd be happy to send some. Wolter, CVT, CCRABend Veterinary Specialists
