This workshop provides an introduction to a behavioral approach to analyzing and

teaching language and communication to children with autism, based on B. F.

Skinnner’s 1957 book, Verbal Behavior.

This workshop will also provide attendees with information that will be expanded

on at the FEAT Fall Conference on October 24, 25, 26, presented by Mark

Sundberg, Ph.D., BCBA “Teaching Language to Children with Autism and Other

Developmental Disabilitiesâ€. However, attendance to the FEAT-NT conference is

not required in order to attend this workshop.

Attendees of this workshop will learn:

-The basic verbal operants as defined by Skinner.

-How the addition of Skinner’s analysis can benefit children with autism who

receive behavioral intervention.

-How mand training often benefits children with autism whose communication

skills are limited.

-How the use of augmentative/alternative communication often increases/improves

the communication and speech of children with autism who are non-vocal.
