Guest guest
Hi, There is no way to predict how fast (or slow) the disease will progress for you. Hep c is a very individualized disease; some people are the rabbits (fast progression), some are the turtles(slow progression). You may stay at this stage for awhile, but as I said, there is no formula to predict. Hopefully you are taking care of yourself, no alcohol, monitor your prescription drug intake as well as any herbal medicines (many are not safe for the liver), and eat healthy (I always have trouble with that one). Continue to be monitored by a specialist that has a current knowledge of hep c treatment & care, and keep educating yourself so you can be proactive in your care. Take care, > > Hi eveyone. Guest guest
On January 11, 2011, creatinine was 1.14 grams - that was before I even knew that I had PA. In November, I skipped my first pee on the day I began the test and collected everything that day and my first pee the following day. > > > My latest blood work (11/18/11) showed less than 1 ng/dL of serum aldosterone; renin was 0.13 (0.25-5.82); serum cortisol was 7.2 (10 to 25); K was 4.8 (3.3-5.1); Na was 134 (137-147); glucose was 57 (74-118); and creatinine was 0.7 (0.8-1.7) (reference ranges in parentheses). My endocrinologist is scheduling an ACTH stimulation test to make sure my cortisol is okay. I also had a 24 hour urine test which showed 923 mg (800-1800) of creatinine, 116 mmol (25-125)of K and 88 mmol (40-220) of Na. I would like to do better with my salt and BP. > > > > Since my adrenalectomy on September 19, 2011,I have stopped taking all BP medications and potassium. My BP has ranged from 100/67 to 157/82, with an average of 133/70 for the week of 11/25/11 to 12/1/11. My systolic pressure has exceeded 140 a little over 36% of the time or 17 out the 47 days since I stopped all medications for hypertension. My nephrologist wants to see me again in 6 months with the goal that I reduce salt enough to get my BP under 140 more than 2/3rds of the time. Guest guest
Thank you for the feedback. I have never taken florinef. The only prescription meds I take are 30 mg of cymbalta and 20 mg of omeprazole. I didn't take any migraine meds a few days before and during that time. Do know others in her family also were Bi-polar and have some others in my family that have both Bi-polar and depression problems. also some have high B/P I my self do not think I have the problem at least not to where I think I needs meds. Guest guest
So your average. Might be a out - g A day. May your pressure be low!CE Grim MS, MDSpecializing in DifficultHypertension On January 11, 2011, creatinine was 1.14 grams - that was before I even knew that I had PA. Guest guest
Wow! Based on that information, I am not sure that I should or want to keep taking Cymbalta. I remember expressing concerns about all the SSRI's, & I thinking I should look into it more & try to stop taking it next year. I didn't realize that you & I were both taking it, . Please keep me posted regarding what you find. I hope to do more research myself. Guest guest
FWIW - that's the very same drug that my ex-doctor wanted to put me on when he thought my trapezius muscle spasm, heart palpitations, and high BP were " typical middle aged woman problems " due to stress. I'm pointing this out because this makes at least three of us who have or had PA who had this drug offered to us. A dear friend takes it for pain due to SLE. It has made her go from normal weight to nearly obese within a year or so - which makes me wonder what it is doing to her metabolically. Guest guest
I started taking it in 2009. It was suggested as a preventative for migraines by the Jefferson Headache Center in Philly. However, I have had some depression & ADD/anxiety characteristics. I can be pretty determined, intense & high strung. I practice trying to be calm, which helps, but when I get a some ideas in my head, I am told I'm like a dog with a bone. I am hoping that now that my aldo has dropped, I may be able to stop the Cymbalta. Guest guest
Same here; enough so that in the past I have had my share of encounters with SSRIs, and learned that for me, the side effects are far worse than what the drugs are supposed to treat in the first place. I'm starting to wonder though if since the advent of antidepressants, we've collectively been convinced that our individual characteristics such as these are flaws, rather than what makes us human. I hope that with your lower aldo levels, you will be able to stop the Cymbalta. My issues were always more anxiety than depression, and since the adrenalectomy my anxiety has dropped down to nearly not being there at all. I'm constantly amazed at this! > > I have had some depression & ADD/anxiety characteristics. I can be pretty determined, intense & high strung. Guest guest
My name is Larry and I am new to this group. I just returned from my endo appt with the following test results: Renin, Plasma. (ref range 3.5 - 45). 23 meq/24h Dr. Said that even though he is puzzled by values outside of norm he wants me to see a kidney Dr. And see him in 6 months. This advice dosen't seem right to me so I welcome thoughts from people with much more experience than me in getting evaluated for Endo problems. Guest guest
Actually, it appears that your doc is a good one because instead of placing you on several medications for decades, he just is doing the proper choice...and a kidney doc/endo seems most appropriate to begin with.
