Guest guest
Well IMHO an Endo should have been able to do follow up testing. Some Nephs can and some can't. Is there a Am Soc of HTN expert in your area? Actually, it appears that your doc is a good one because instead of placing you on several medications for decades, he just is doing the proper choice...and a kidney doc/endo seems most appropriate to begin with. Max. | Test results | |My name is Larry and I am new to this group. I just returned from my endo |appt with the following test results: | |Renin, Plasma. Upright (ref. range 0.5 - 4.0). 0.1 ngmLhr | |Aldosterone ,Serum Upright (ref. range 4.0 - 31). 1.7 ng/dL | |Potassium, urine. (ref. range 25 - 100). 104 mmol/24hr | |Cortisol, Free, Urine. (ref range 3.5 - 45). 23 meq/24h | | |Dr. Said that even though he is puzzled by values outside of norm he wants me |to see a kidney Dr. And see him in 6 months. | |This advice dosen't seem right to me so I welcome thoughts from people with |much more experience than me in getting evaluated for Endo problems. | |Thanks | | |
Guest guest
Hi Larry, based on my " experiment of one " (myself!) your doctor's recommendation to see a nephrologist is a good one - that's exactly the type of doctor who diagnosed my adrenal tumor after a good half-dozen others (including several endos) had failed. I'm told that these days, nephrologists are often the best HTN specialists. -msmith1928 Nulliparous female, 46, 5'3 " , 113 lbs, CT showed 1cm left adrenal nodule, AVS determined disease is unilateral, had left laparoscopic adrenalectomy on 10/13/2011. Low sodium, fructose- and grain-free diet due to hereditary fructose intolerance, lactose intolerance, gluten intolerance (probable celiac). > > My name is Larry and I am new to this group. Guest guest
Depends on where you live and where Endo was trained. Many do not get any special HTN training. Many Nephs get little training in Endo HTN so best assurance is to find some one who is ASH certified. So if we know where he lives we may have a recommendation.
