Welcome . Sorry you had to join us but very glad you're here!

Hello!

Hi everyone! I'm . I've recently been diagnosed with Hep C, much to

my shock. Yesterday, I had my liver biopsy - which went off without a

hitch. I don't exactly know what is next except waiting for the

results. I find this all really strange since I apparently got the Hep C

from a blood transfusion when I was 9 years old. I had open heart

surgery. That was 36 years ago and I find it so weird that I never had any

symptoms prior to this. I feel fine, except today I really feel tired

which I guess is from the biopsy.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to chatting with you all and learning more

about this.

Thanks for the welcome, anne. This is all very new to me and I'm

trying to learn as much as I can about Hep C.

Hi, , I'm new here, too, and I got this sleeping dragon as a child like

you did. When I was your age, I started feeling really fatigued really easily.

That was my only symptom, but since that time, I've learned that I had many more

symptoms years before and just didn't know it. I wrote it off to some sort of

flu bugs.

Gosh, life is really busy here lately, but when I have some time, I'll have to

share some simple things that were suggested to me on another list I was on. It

made a great difference in my quality of life.

Hi Marilyn -

It's hard to know if the fatigue is from just being tired or from the Hep

C. Some of the symptoms I've read about could be anything. If it weren't

for the blood tests, I never would have known about it. I did have these

tiny little red blood spots (the size of a pinhead), but I didn't go to the

doctor for them. They didn't seem serious enough to worry about or even

notice much. This is such a weird disease because there's no real obvious

symptoms and I feel perfectly fine.

, are you talking about tiny little red spots on your chest, arms and

legs? I have them, too. I never associated them with Hep C but have had them

forever!

Water, water, water! ! oz. for every 2 oz. of body weight per day, a vitamin

without iron, like Centrum Silver, and walk to the corner and back, even if you

take a 2-hour nap afterwards - just keep moving and every day you will move some

more. You *can* feel better even with this virus! 60 grams of protein a day,

even if you get it from drinks that don't contain Iron. Iron is a no-no. If

the drinks are too sweet, you can cut them with lemon juice. If the drinks are

too thick, you can cut them with skim milk.

Many times I can't eat food, but I can drink things. I've felt better in the

last three years than I've felt in many years.

Quite honestly, Marilyn, I don't feel sick at all. I don't get overly

fatigued. Not anymore than anyone else. If they didn't run the regular

blood tests, I still wouldn't know I had Hep C. I still say this is one

weird disease. LOL

Hello Everyone!

I stumbled upon IOWL on I-tunes when looking for a new podcast to

join. I'm 37 y.o. and just hit the 100kg mark (those outside of

Canada, 220 lbs sigh). That would be perfect if I was 10 feet tall,

but alas, I am only 5'1 " . After seeing that number on the scale at

my endocrinologist's office, I decided that it was time to do

something about it instead of whine about it, thus the hunt for

podcasts. In January of this year, I had my thyroid removed totally

and was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Of course, this now means I

cannot blame my " slow thyroid " to my weight gain (or maybe because

venus wasn't in my house). I know I need to lose weight for my

health - one brush with cancer is enough for me - but of course,

those fries beacon.

So I just wanted to say hello and I'm on episode 1, starting my

worksheet. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and to a new way

of living.

Have a great one!

Hi Cat!!  I am glad you found us!  This is a great group and I am sure you will

find 's podcasts to be SO helpful.

I too had cancer, about five years ago (carcinoid cancer) and can remember like

it was just yesterday the absolute terror I felt when hearing that diagnosis.  I

had to laugh when you said you couldn't blame your thyroid anymore -- I recently

insisted on having all my blood work checked because I thought there had to be

something wrong with me to have gained so much weight (sixty pounds since I got

married - forty after the cancer scare).  Guess what?  C-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-l-y

normal.  Sigh.  I share your desire to get healthy and hope we can share our

experiences as we embark on this journey.

I have to ask though, when you said " those fries beacon " - did you mean beckon?

:)  Freudian slip?  LOL -- I am really glad to meet you and look forward to

hearing more!  I work with a wonderful lady from Newfoundland here in Tampa,

FL.  She is an absolute joy and still has a heavy accent.  I love just listening

to her speak!  Thanks for posting and making me smile today!

I'm glad I can make you smile..or anyone really.  I love doing that.

it took me a bit to find them when I joined up ... from the podcast, I was

expecting them to arrive via email, never dawned on me (nor did I hear it in any

later podcast) that they would be on the yahoo group -- so that was a nice

surprise for 'exploring'!

let me know if you'd like to share -- I always get a lot of good

info/advice/insights here!

and Donna thanks so much for your kind words. Grandma's heart function has

improved some, so things are looking up, still shaky but up. Donna so sorry to

hear about your coworker's passing. Its been rough summer for many. We lost

three at our office right in a row. We have about 200 employees. Two I

occasionally worked with, one of whom was my age. The third I saw everyday

several times a day and he was just an incredible man.

Heres to better days!

Welcome, ! I'm , and my weight has fluctuated too. I was once at

235, got down to 165, now I'm around 215 and I'm sick of it too. I teach Turbo

Kick at 24 Hour Fitness and am one of the bigger instructors. I'm now seeing a

personal trainer who is also a professional bodybuilder to try and help me get

my weight down and build some muscle tone (I'm more of a cardio person)

Anyway, please post often and review the workouts you do! New people are

joining all the time and not everyone has done Tae-Bo, believe it or not. And

for those of us that have, it's always fun to hear someone else's slant on it :)

Cheers!
