JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary purpose of this position is to develop, supervise, and

oversee the in-home therapy of young children with autism working on

the Autism Center of Excellence Multisite Treatment Study, under the

direction and supervision of the principal investigator. The goal of

this project is to examine the efficacy of the Early Start Denver

Model for promoting optimal learning and development of toddlers and

preschoolers with Autism Spectrum Disorders. This position will be

part of an interdisciplinary team providing care for the children in

the study. The person in this position will be responsible for

training and supervising a team of therapy assistants to deliver

intensive therapy using the Early Start Denver Model to very young

children with autism. This person will assess children's learning

needs, develop an individualized and comprehensive treatment plan for

the child, teach the parents and the therapy assistant team to

implement the plan, oversee the implementation, evaluate child

progress, and modify plans as needed to optimize child progress. This

person will oversee the treatment of up to 8 children and will be

part of an interdisciplinary team responsible for care of all the

children in the study.

REQUIREMENTS

Completion of a graduate degree in School or Educational Psychology,

Clinical Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Child Development,

Special Education, or a related field. Training and experience in

Applied Behavior Analysis. Expertise in designing and implementing

intensive empirically based educational/intervention strategies for

young children with autism ages 18-36 months in home, public school,

and community settings. Experience training and supervising others to

design and implement such interventions. Experience assessing young

children with autism and writing comprehensive treatment plans.

Experience in task analysis and functional behavioral assessment, and

development of positive behavior support plans.
