Hi ,

While I wouldn't suggest that anyone make a diagnosis over the internet,

it's clear from your description that your nephew has a significant

developmental delay or disorder. There is a great deal of reseach to

suggest that the best outcomes occur with intensive early intervention so I

would do whatever is necessary to have your brother and sister in-law get

him evaluated and treated as soon as possible. The fact that he is

tantruming a great deal is most likely a result of an inability to

communicate his wants and needs effectively.

You know your family well so you get to figure out how to best approach them

to have their son tested. I'd recommend staying away from suggesting any

diagnosis but instead just focus on your concerns about his current skills

and the importance of early intervention.

Best of luck to you and thank you for being a blessing in this child's

life!

Vail
