Guest guest
Can anyone help, suggest and/or recommend ways to improve gross motor imitation. Child does not appear to have any physical/gross motor limitations. However, he's struggling to follow simple gross motor imitations during sessions. He attends/looks at his teacher when instructed to " do this, copy me, follow me, do the same " . However, when it comes to coordinating the movements he gets stuck. We are using simple and familiar actions (clap hands, march, rub hands together, stand up, turn around, hands up..). Otherwise, he's very successful matching, following short receptive instructions, mands non-stop, fill ins songs, plays well independently and with teacher and etc. Any feedback will be much appreciated. Guest guest
It may be associated with his memory of what he sees – if you are doing two actions, he must remember and correctly recall both of them to do it correctly – which effectively doubles the amount he must recall on demand………….you might try to pair a verbal prompt with your motor imitation to help him recall both.
