Guest guest
I changed the subject line, it might hopefully draw out some that are waiting or have already had a transplant, and they may have better answers for you, Rick. Have you checked out Dan ? http://www.myspace.com/godandmeandhepatitisc Best of luck, my friend, my prayers are ever with you.. Sheena Rick Kipp wrote: Thanks, Debbie! Funny, as I used to play softball in Vermont. Season started early May, when it could still get close to freezing temps! Lots of fun, beer, cocaine and adoring fans. Perhaps it was the team's name: the "MasterBatters". Wouldn't publish it in the local paper, cause it was to risque! That began around 1975. Back to the subject: the main question I would have is: Does anyone know of a really good forum site for liver transplants? I looked at a couple of Delphi sights, and their horrible. Guess I've been spoiled by this great group!Otherwise, I would like to discuss the transplant process from A to Z witwith someone, or read all about it on a good site. Guest guest
Hi Rick You might have a look at the articles on Dr. Burt Berkson. You can type in his name and HepC or cancer or both. From what I can read, he is a respected MD and works with the FDA on some research on some of the supplements (treatments) he uses. His research started when he worked with end stage liver disease and mushroom poisoning. There is a study on low dose naltroxen or nalproxen aka LDN (not sure of that spelling) as well. He is associated with both that study and the study of alpha lipoic acid. I have no personal info to relate, but have started the ALA, selenium, silimarin supplement--three days ago. He is not related to any supplement company and appears to be authentic. How did I get to this website? I've had HepC since my mid 20's, Told I had some sort of liver disease in 1966 and diagnosed HepC in 1998. Some IV drug use and 2 blood transfusions back in late 50's, early 60's. I'll be 74 this summer. I, along with my MD's, chose not to treat so I periodically check to see what is new. Maybe what he offers will slow your disease while you await transplant. Only because you said if anyone knew any website did I offer this. It does not sound like hocus-pocus to me. See what you think. Wishing you all the best thru a very difficult time, Quinn In the swamp in secluded recesses, a shy and hidden bird is warbling a song. Guest guest
Went great just like last month Doc says I'm Boring ( does he know me that well ). Did meet a gal that had here done by the same Doc 5 years ago. As of yesterday I'm taking less drugs then she is so things are looking great. My only prob;em is that I'm as tired or more so now then before the transplant ,but they say it will past as my bod adjusts to being healthy again. The strangest one I heard was this other Gal said she turned down one transplant because she was not ready, then got a second call 3 months later and was told by our Doc she better take this one. The wife and I just about fell out of our chairs as most of us never even get the one chance, in fact meet another gal a few months ago that has been on the list for 6 years. Next moth is my 6 month check and will have a bio to see how it looks inside and hopefully the Daemon has not started his nasty work all over again. rich PS If you can OHSU in Portland Oregon is a great place to have it done. > > How did things go for you at the doc's, Rich? > >
Guest guest
Hey, Rich! Rick here. I asked a few days ago about transplants, but you were heading out of town. In order to interrupt you less, do you know of any good " quides " for tp patients! I would simply like to read an a to z " for Dummies! " guide. I know the basics but feel that rereading a full report would be helpful. You can reach me at rickkipp@... I really appreciate anything you can recommend. Thanks, and I hope I'm as fortunate as you. Congratulations!! > > > > How did things go for you at the doc's, Rich? > > > > >
Guest guest
Im so glad you are doing great Rich.... man, I can't imagine someone turning down the tp because they weren't ready and even if she did, I can't imagine them offering her another chance,,, she was doubly blessed for sure!rich wrote: Went great just like last month Doc says I'm Boring ( does he know me that well ). Guest guest
Thanks to all who searched good sites for me. At first, buu buu's site appeared awkward, but now it's getting more familiar. I do believe it's the best liver transplant support out there. So I think I gave a great place to begin. Thanks again! Done now sent the email Rick should hear from her soon .
