Guest guest Posted February 6, 2008 Report Share Posted February 6, 2008 Opening: The Chicago Education Project (Schaumburg) will be starting a pilot program in Peoria, Illinois summer 2008. Students: The age at intake: 2.5 - 6 Diagnosis: autism or other related disorders Methodology: The Chicago Education Project utilizes the science of Applied Behavior Analysis combined with the Verbal Behavior methodology as described by Skinner's Analysis of Verbal Behavior and RDI. Curriculum: A curriculum is developed for each learner individually that identifies his/her specific areas of need. These skills are identified through direct and indirect measures including the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) developed by Sundberg, M. and Partington, J. Additional curricula will be introduced as the student demonstrates specific needs. Staff: Our staff are hired based on training, interest, experience, and formal education in the fields of education, psychology, and other related fields. Staff receives extensive training under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst Parents: Parents are an integral part of the child's learning. In emphasizing a team approach, parents will receive hands- on training in the application of ABA. Communication between home and school on a regular basis is considered a critical component to progress. Tuition: More information will follow Student to teacher ratio: The classroom will consist of a 1:1 student to teacher ratio Class Size The pilot program will consist of a limited number of spots for the summer program. Following this, we plan to expand to a maximum of 8-10 full-time students. Calendar: Chicago Education Project- Peoria Campus is a year round education center. We follow the local school district's school calendar with additional parent and/or staff development days. Openings: Class size at the Chicago Education Project-Peoria Campus is extremely limited.
