Guest guest
Vickie G. I think you will find that most medical people don't know a whole lot about hep c, unless they work with it everyday .My GP, fresh out of school, and that's why I chose him, told me he didn't know, that's why we have a hep doc. The hep nurse I had , I don't think she knew, she couldn't answer some of my questions. I have been an LPN for 27 years and until I found I had hep, I didn't know, and I am still learning. I had a friend who was taking interferon for MS 15 years ago. I personally feel the interferon is a chemo for the liver, that's the easiest way to explain, look at the sides. I am sorry that medical professionals (?) do have a way of bringing out crappy attitudes in us. Take care !Maybe you can use this educate your DIL. I'm staying away from my son and his wife cause she's a nurse working in the uncology area of her hospital in Arkansas and she told my tson hat I looked great the last time she saw me, which was crap. And, my attitude was crappy. Also, she told my son that she or none of her co-workers have ever heard of a chemo therapy type treatment for hep c. I told her it was similar to chemo, not as bad. I'm not going around them. Hugs, VickieG
Guest guest
I got lucky, my G P was young & very interested in learning more about hep c when I started seeing her. The one I had before just refered me to a G I - one of only two in town & left it at that. That doc moved out of town, the G I died & I was very lucky to get the doctor I got. She's smart & always interested in expanding her knowledge of her job & I thank the gods for her, she cares. SuZieDonna Sikes wrote: Vickie G. Guest guest
Exactly. That's why I was so upset with them. Even all drs don't know about hep-c tretment. I hate people who know just enough to make them dangerous. Ty for the backup . Hugs, VickieG Re: [HepatitisCSupportG roupForDummies] Introduction as a newcomer So, true, Gail. Guest guest
Ty, Donna. I appreciate the pep talk. I've been around long enough to know that no one knows everything. But, some people won't listen because they think they know it all and they are more concerned about themselves. That's the frustrating part. I chalk it up to young and dumb and just stay away from them as the only time I get really upset is when I'm around them. Not good for the liver. Guest guest
Low dose Long term Chemo is exactly how my dr explained it to me. d RE: chemo They do use interferon for some cancers. I usually explain it by saying that cancer patients usually have high dose, short term chemo, while we have low dose, long term. Just because they are cancer nurses doesn¢t mean they know anything about hep c. Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
Ty, Danne. Now I know that is the correct way to explain it. Sry I missed chat yesterday. It was another crappy day. Was even too sick to go out to dinner. awk! Hugs, VickieG RE: [HepatitisCSupportG roupForDummies] chemo They do use interferon for some cancers.
